Just decided at 54,000 miles to check the air filter as the air filter minder was still showing 100%. To my surprise the filter was quite dirty. Either the minder does not work or the filter has to be very dirty for it to show anything. The cost of a new filter is cheap insurance. The new filter from Cummins does not have the half inch foam on the bottom.

Those filter minders never move unless you push more boost. My father never cleaned his K&N filter for like 75,000 miles and when I put a cam plate in it, the filter minder bottomed out. I looked at the filter and you don't want to know what I found, regardless it was very hard to get clean, and when I did, the filter minder still bottomed out because he is pushing 30+ psi.

My filter minder never moved until I put the Dodgezilla turbo in it. Now it will peg it even with a new filter. That's at 38psi boost.

When I talked to the guy at Cummins Intermountain, he said you could change the air cleaner every 30K miles without any problem. In our area that's about as many miles as I am comfortable with considering all the dust in the air.
