Just got my HO 6spd 2 weeks ago popped the hood and noticed that the restriction gauge on the air box was reading 60%. Reset it and an couple of days later same thing , both times checked the filter and nothing? Anyone else notice this on theres?? Waiting for the new Western Diesel filters to come in cant wait just wondering if its the box or paper filter doing this?? -- email address removed --

Mine has gone to 35% on hard acceleration since new. Just ignore it until it looks and shows plugged.

I just ordered an AFE filter. Mine from new went to 35% and now at 6000 miles is at 65%.

Should receive filter on the 25th with an EZ box. Oo.

Bully Dog Technologies engineered their own cold air intake for the 03. Dyno results are showing 50 hp over stock just with intake. 16-20 if you already have a chip. egts are dropping by about 200 degrees, and boost is rising by 1-2 pounds.

I have an AFE Megacannon on my 01, it is very well made and helps to hold the EGTs down.

AS much as the 03 needs something different than the mickeymouse factory setup, I'm going to be very careful about what I put in there!!

Due to the placement of the air filter, directly behind the gap between the radiator and the headlight enclosure, it gets wet when you drive in heavy rain, wash the truck, and it has gotten very muddy when driving in breakup conditions, (which has been our weather all winter here!!)

Hopefully the AFE will have proper shielding in front.

I WOULD NOT use the one pictured above in my truck. !!

Wow 50 hp from just an intake and air filter? Sign me up! I'm also in the market for a bridge, preferably in the brooklyn or San Francisco bay area.

Just remember guys that 50hp is was tested for over stock. Once you add a chip the intake only adds about 16-20 over what your chip gives you.

I'd say that the main benefit is the reduction of egts.

Come on! Even if you removed the complete air filter assembly and let the turbo suck atmosphere directly through the inlet you still wouldn't make 50 Hp over stock. If Bullydog actually claims this, they're blowing smoke up our you-know-what.

I've seen dyno results that prove it. Call em up and ask them. They will tell you the same thing I have.

But of course you are entitled to your assumptions.

the guys @ Bullydog have been at this a long time and have come up with a way to achieve this. We had a discussion on this subject as they have started advertising this on the TDR (see Banner ad)

It works because the new intake tricks the mass air censor. It thinks it is getting more and cooler air. Therefor, it thinks it is running too lean and adds more fuel to compinsate for the lean condition.

If you prop up the lid on your airbox essentially running no filter/restriction at all there would be no increase in horsepower.

Before one starts badmouthing a company, one should do the research therefor they won't look like the fool themselve. (i have been there and done that:rolleyes: )

Please don't take my word for it. Call them yourself.

50 H. P. ? Not doubting anyones word here but that one I'll have to see to believe.

Now I've heard about these chrome valve stems that add...

;)

According to the service manual and Dodge there is no "mass airflow sensor" in a 2003 CTD. You cannot trick the ECM into delivering more fuel by adding more or cooler air. Also talked with Mark at TST who has been doing extensive research on his 2003 since sept and he agrees. Anyones claim to make more power (let alone 20% more than rated power) by changing the air filter or intake to the turbo is trying to sell you a bridge.

I have a challenge for BullyDog. How about they bring a filter kit to a dyno near me (say Dynomite diesel in Monroe Wa. ) and we give it a try. If it makes 50 more H. P. , I'll pay for the dyno runs and the filter. If it doesn't, They give me the filter for free and pay for the runs. I will report any findings here.

Give them a call and challenge them Maybe they will bite. Ask them to send you one because you want to test one out because of the ratings being posted on this web site.

I don't see them travelling to western washington from eastern idaho for that kind of promotion.

These intakes aren't the only products they sell.

By the way is that the monroe outside of Duvall. I used to go to stillwater elementary school in lake marcell till I flunked out.

And if you read the fine print on the chart your looking at you will see,

A. Torque Dog Plus, a power chip.

B. 4" exhaust

C. AFE fliter

Ok how does this sound been thinking about it for awhile now after reading the 50hp comments. Maybe they mean 50hp over a stock air filter meaning you will be getting closer to the 305 stock horsepower with there filter system. I mean you have got to be adding alot of power somewhere if my paper filter is new and restricting the flow by 65%. Does that make sense or am I way out there. Just seems to me that there would be a big power loss and not even getting close to the 305 with the stock filter. So help me out dont want a K&N near my truck what is everyone paying for these filter mods and where are we getting them?
