Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Air Filter

I have a KN air filter in my truck, and i notice when i go to check or clean it i find on the dirty side or bottom its all clogged with dirt. not just dusty dirt but very oily dirt all clumped together. i clean and oil it just like KnN instructs. but i still have oily clumpy dirt. does anyone have this problem. thanks

Yep mine was the same way. The bottom side is the air intake or fresh air side. The oil you add is what is making it clump up.

Are you careful not to over oil it? I've also read that the AFE oil is a better formula for the filters.

At least you know it is stoping some of the dirt mine did the same

thing I threw it away and put on a Scotty11 wow.
