91 5-Speed Gear Shift Knob

Back in Md with new dog/ Chrysler Carlisle july 7,8 and 9,

I'd like to find an aftermarket airbox and filter setup for my 91 w 250. All I seem to be able to come up with is 94 and later. New or used would be ok. I've upgraded the exaust and would like to get the ol truck breathing a little better. Hoping for a little better fuel mileage. This $3. 00/gal. fuel is getting to me. Thanks, Max

I started prototyping one a while back when I had a 1st gen, but sold the truck before I could get it done. Maybe you would be interested in helping me finish it/trying it out? I'll try to round up some pics. of what I have already if you think your interested...

Hi Mr Diesel, I sure would be interested in trying out what you've come up with. I however am a long way from a dyno where I could test. I am so far back in the boonies of WV that it takes till Wednesday to get Saturdays TV shows. I am a autobody tech and have quite a bit of expierence in fabrication, especially sheet metal. Send me some pix. Sounds like this is right down my alley. I am more interested in fuel mileage than more power but I suppose if you tune right you'll get both. I use GPS for odometer and speedometer, should be pretty accurate. Stock one is not accurate due to 8R X 19. 5 wheels and tires. Getting average of abt 22MPG now. Hoping I can improve that some with better air flow. Hope we can come up with something, parts need to be readily available for these wonderfull old trucks.

If you start looking at filter elements I think the general consensus is that AFE is the way to go. It is a hot topic on the 2nd gen forums, but like you said the 2nd gen trucks also have a lot more options for them too. Seems like a good piece of pipe with some kind of filter element on the end in a spot that works could be the key, let me know if you need a hand with anything installation wise, always willin to lend a hand.

Max,

Invest in an ASA Modifieds intake with an AFE filter. You won't regret it. You have three colors to choose from. Viper Red, Satin Chrome and Black Chrome. Don't ask me why, but out of all my mods, the intake was the LAST thing I did. My poor Cummins was starving for air all along.
