Lookinig for suggestions on a high flow that will fit in the limited space where the orginal box used to be. As you can see in my sig. I'm running twins so space is limited. I tried a cone style filter from Spectre (#9736) and I got about 30 days of normal driving out of it. Normal of course is usually between 15 and 45 psi of boost, so what's the best flowing filter out there?

The best compromise between high flow and good filtration is the Amsoil Nano 4510,

The best FLOW is IMHO the AFE Stage 2

The Amsoil Nano has a 4. 5 inch opening and you need to pick up a different hose for it, but the thing is HUGE.

Thanks ThrottleJockey for the reply. My problem is coming down to availabe space. Both the SFE and the Amsoil are to big. I cannot lose the 2nd batt. because of the cold start requirement. I've thought about remoting the batt but was hoping for a solution taht will allow me to avoid this.

Without looking under the hood to know for sure but, can the battery be moved to the fender then use a larger filter pointed downward in the batteries vacant spot? Follow me? Not sure if there is enough height on the fender for the battery though. Only thing you would need is a longer cable and a hose to attach the filter to the turbo. If it works you might gain a little cooler airflow in that location.

Yeah, Hobbs has a good idea. Search 'Whistler Intake' and look at how those guys pointed that big, bucket sized air filter down and towards the fender. On our 2nd gens we will have to move the battery but the Whistler has a 6 inch inlet with the AFE 2.

That's a lot of air, plus the whole thing cost half the price of a CAI.

Moving the battery to the fender where the original airbox use to be but didn't think it would fit. I will have to measure it and if it fits then you guys have saved me a lot of money and stress.

thanks, you guys are the best. .

See if you can rig up something like that for the big inlet on your twins and post up some pics if you can get that battery moved. If you don't want to move it, 'Search' some pics of twin set ups and look around.

Here is an original Whistler with I believe to be an AFE filter with the 6 inch opening mounted on a rather ugly snorkle system for a 3rd Gen but easily adaptable to our 2nd Gens.

I already did these mods. I run 66/480 twins in my 99 with the battery moved to 3rd gen location and HUGE 6" inlet AFE PROdryS filter, part# 21-60512 (6"inlet,7-1/2"base,12"long,5-1/2"top)
wasnt hard to do and works MUCH better. I now have EASY access to oil filter and turbos and the air filter gets air right from the front of the truck. It sounds like a jet when the 480 lights up, too!
I would stay away from the oval 4510 as I have had them collapse and suck-in running twins!

Sweet setup, very clean setup. This is the direction I will go. Thanks for the source.

On another subject; Are you using air to regulate your wastgate? I have another post here trying to figure out how to make this work.
