Air filter ?

Looking for some info on or what people think is the best air filter system for our 24v Cummins is? I have the stock filter box with a k&n but it needs to be upgraded. I have 275 injectors with the power max 3 and the complete 4-inch exhaust kit from banks. I also have the 4-inch elbow. Just looking to top off the air system now. :--)

I do not have the best air filter system but I do like the BHAF that I put on. However, there is a drawback in that is it sucks hot underhood air (even with the heat shield I fabricated). Even though it lowered the EGT's on my truck, they could be lower due to it's location. Whitmore relocated his passenger battery to where the stock air filter box was and put his BHAF is the void along with a heat shield to keep as much underhood heat away from the filter as possible.



All of that effort (depending on how you look at bombing) might equate in other people's eyes to just buying an AFE air filter set up (Which comes with a heat shield). More initial money... ... less instaliation time.



Now if you really want the intake system that lowers the EGT's..... contact Doug Hofeldt in Pocatello Idaho. His "aerodynamic hoods" are quite the ticket.

I first used the K&N RE0880 filter I liked it, but the turbo had a pitch that bothered me after 2 hours of driving. I was thinking about the BHAF when I went a class at the Cummins distributor. All of the test engines in the dyno room had BHAFs on them. I figure that if it good enough for their power runs it would be for me too. It also killed the high pitch from the turbo 6 hour runs andd no head ache.

I got mine for $179 (shipping not included) from a place in Ogden, Ut. It's the full kit. Can't remember the name right now. I called AFe and asked them for a dealer in my area and they gave me the number of this guy in Ogden.



BTW I'm very impressed with the quality of the Mega Cannon. I was going to get just a repalcement filter for $110 and then make my own shroud. After buying the whole kit, I'm glad I spent the extra money. It's a quality unit all the way around and it works very well.
