I just changed out the K&N air filter for a Fram (Always forget to check the K&N, so I decided to go with Fram so I will be forced to check it)

I noticed that before I changed out the K&N, the air filter meter (?) said it was 35% clogged (damn thing is hard to read). After I put in the new filter and pushed the yellow top of the air filter meter to reset it, it still reads 35% clogged. Do those things even work ?

Mine worked on both trucks. I changed the filter on my 2000 3500QC 4x4 ETC automatic at 45K miles. Did not need to be changed I just thought it was time. The dirtier they get the better they filter. I will stick with the Mopar air filter based on recommendations from Cummins engineer. Don't want any dirt in my CTD ;)

1974 MGB (early 74, last of the chrome bumpers - doesnt even leak oil)

My Dad and I rebuilt a 1957 MGA back in 1965. That was a lot of fun :D Also rebuilt a 1958 Triumph (TR3 I think) the old ugly bug eye scoop door one. Neither car had roll up windows, only screw on side curtains. Wish I had a cell phone in those days so I could call somebody to come get me when they broke down :-laf

The filter minders usually work great but yours doesn't sound like is if it doesn't go all the way to the top when resetting. You can either replace it or assume that 35% is really zero.

I got my truck (used) over 20k mi. ago and it still had the same filter that was in it when I got it - the filter minder NEVER moved. I finally replaced it this weekend just because it seemed like the right thing to do.

Is there any way to test the filter minder?

Same here

My filter minder has never moved. I don't even pay attention to it anymore. I just open it up and give it a visual. It would be interesting to test it and see if it works though. Couldn't we just partially cover the inlet and see what happens?
