air heater relays

i started my truck the other day and the voltage meter would go back and forth real fast not like the usual deep cycling the lights were actually blinking and the door buzzer was breaking up i checked all the connections at the air heater and relays i noticed one of the 4 wires on the relays was loose i pulled it off the post looks like it has ben burnt or corroded its hard to tell i cleaned it up the best i could and re attached it it did not clip on real good but it seemed to clear up the problem there is a nut at the bottom of the post i was wondering if you could change the post by itself or you had to change the entire relay as one unit thanks for any help

I think that the relay would have to be replaced. I imagine that the stud would be soldered to something inside of realy.

Take a good look at the relay see if the stud can be fixed only . Just make sure that you have extra relay handy incase it doesn't work out.

The shop manual states that if your starter solenoid goes you have to change out whole starter assembly. But members have found places where you can get starter solenoid rebuild kits. Maybe one of these places have rebuild kits for that type of relay?

When mine failed on my '98, I took it apart. I think the stud can be replaced by itself. But the relays are so cheap, it is better to replace them. The springs are weak and the contacts are chintzy. If you can, replace them with something of much higher quality.
