After putting it off for a long time, I finally deceided to install my air horns. Had everything installed for some time with the exception of the compressor. Didn't really like the small compressors because it looked to me like they had a relatively short lifetime.

My solution was to mount a small hand carryable with a max. pressure of 250psi (the type you can buy in Wal-Mart) in the lower plastic tray behind the passangers seat. I bought a threaded schrader valve from NAPA,drilled a hole through the plastic tray and the cab floor. All I do is connect the hose to the schrader valve and leave it connected.

What I like about the installation is, I can remove the compressor any time I want to by just disconnecting the hose by the flip of the lever. Now I can use the compressor for whatever I want to.

In a very short time I have 140psi available for use with the horns.

VSSMAN - yes, I fill a tank and no, it dosn't shut off automatically. To date ,I haven't installed a pressure shut off valve. When the pressure gets low,I just plug it into the cigar lighter. To say the least, this is a halfassed set up, but for now it serves my purpose.

The reason I'm doing it this way is I may be selling my truck and our 5th. wheel in the near future.

Bob......

I used the same compressor. Going strong on two different trucks for 8 months now. I hard wired them in under the hood with a pressure switch from J. C. Whitney. It's made by Hadley and they sell it around $35. It shuts off at 135 PSI. That things so loud I don't know how you stand it in the truck.
