I have one just like it on the other side too. I have my 120VAC compressor in a tool box in the bed of my truck. It's pretty noisy at 120psi of pressure. heehee

Certainly gets the attention of people who are annoying you on the road. I wired mine into the original horn button on the steering wheel. Toggle switch in my ashtray switches between the original WIMPY horns and the train horns.

I dunno can ya? You see it's all in your imagination and what you plan out that works. Anything is possible.

I have mounted a Viair 4130 Compressor under the rear seat on a qc 2500 in it's own bin and has been there for 3 years now with no problems. My truck had the compressor up behind the front bumper and the tank was an intergral part of the radiator support and was like that for 5 years. I have seen what Hoot has and that works . . WELL! In fact I have even seen a power inverter mounted inside a toolbox and a construction hot dog style air compressor mounted inside and fed tanks to feed horns he got off a fire truck.

Heat HAD to be a factor in the last one but I don't know he was a gasser freak from another planet. Toolboxes can be a nono because of the heat factor , and make sure you get something that has a decent DUTY CYCLE (Me I recomend Viair) of 70% or higher most "kits" come with a 30% at best. Enough of that tangent

The horns themselves if of the "Train horn" variety will be hard to mount up front as real estate up there is a little on the light side. Many go for under the bed or for duallies up under one of the fender caverns. But again if they are connected in a triangular deal, seperate them and mount them where you can up front. Just be sure to use equal lengths of a thick walled sturdy hose (Air brake line) so they still sound off equally with no delay between stages.

Hmmmmmmm... . you're approaching train tracks with opposite traffic crossing the tracks. Ever let out a blast for a younger driver? ('m thinking heart attack for anyone over 40. )

There was a Republican Party... party, yesterday at the local headquarters. It was outside and very close to the road.

Ever see 50 politicians a foot off the ground all at the same time :-laf

I have my Hadley's mounted under the passenger side front bumper, a 10 gallon air tank in the bed, and a lanyard valve on the A-pillar. No compressor, no electrics. They sound great, they're loud, they're simple, and I get @ a month on a tank of air with PLENTY of "air time". Pics are in my gallery.

Yup, sure have. Saw a couple of people jump too!

I've got my compressor / inverter / and an extra tank mounted in my tool box and honestly heat isn't an issue. Never thought of it ever being an issue until now. Buuuuuuuuuuut, it's been mounted in a box now for 3 years, so I doubt I go and change it now. LOL

When I was ordering my 12VDC air valve, I was talking to the manufacturer about volume and all those specifics. When he heard what I had in mind for my horns he abruptly stopped and said he didn't want any part in contributing to heart attacks by my intended setup. I bought it anyway. :D

THE PROBLEM IS I DON'T HAVE A COVER FOR MY BEAD, I ONLY HAVE A TOOL BOX SO I'M WORRIED THAT SOMEONE WILL STEAL MY COMPRESSOR IF I MOUNT IT SOMEWHERE ELSE THERE HAS TO BE A BIG BRACKET RIGHT? SORRY NEW TO THIS SO I'M NOT SURE MAYBE I'LL JUST HAVE THEM INSTALLED BY A PRO.

I have the Wolo Challenger 810 roof mount horn w tank and compressor. (http://www.wolo-mfg.com/truck.htm) I bought it off ebay for about 1/2. I mounted everything to the frame and sheet metal below the drivers feet. I have a push button switch for the solenoid mounted up where the adj pedal switch would be. The loud horn comes in handy for pretty ladies, jay walkers and jackasses!

I got Grover Air Horns... . love em. I had the dealership install them and bypass the factory horns, so I just use the steering wheel to activate them. My understanding is that train horns are illegal, so check your local laws.

Most alterations to safety equipment are illegal. Especially modifying your stock horn. My stock horn is still there and works with the factory button.

Train horns illegal? I'm sure they are. So is driving over the speed limit.
