I did a forum search and didn't really find anything, so I thought I'd ask here. I'm sorry if this has been re-hashed a hundred times. #ad

Is there a significant difference in performance or quality or price between these two brands? I want to order a set ASAP, so I'm very curious.

Also, who has the best deal? I know Camping World carries the Hadley set, so if there's a decent sale or something going, that might be a way to go.

I'm fed up with brain-dead people cutting me off, so it's time to make them pee in their pants.

Thanks!

Rob

Yeah could somebody e-mail me some round-about numbers on the prices of these two brand please. Do the air compressors for these have auxilary potential? How much psi?

I've had the Hadley air horns for about 20 years now(the same set) and have been very pleased with them. I'm ashamed to say, but I have seen kids drop icecream cones, and dogs literally jump all 4 feet off of the ground, even while taking a leak. He probably won't use that tree anymore. They are very loud. I think the compressor would blow up a tire, enough to get you home, but it's not very fast. The chrome finish has held up pretty well also. Happy Honking!!

You can pick up the Hadleys from JCWhitney for as low as $209 up to $249. All depends what catalog product code you use.

Just bought my Grover set and haven't got them completely installed yet. Anyone have anything good to say about them? Please? lol. I will say this already though... if I had to do it again, I would buy all my pieces separately and not buy a kit.

Rob... . I'm sure you remember at Brandons, when we were working on your truck??? Well do you remember when Dennis from Yuba City honked his horn??... . Do you remember when I said "excuse me... I'll be right back"?... Well it's because Dennis's horn is so DAM!! loud... that,,,, that I soiled myself. . OK!!!! There I said it...

Dennis can be reached thru Kustom Truck in Yuba City, or thru me... .

Loud enough to be heard in a #3rd world country...

Well it looks like to me that the Grovers are going to sound much more like train horns, can't wait to get mine!!!

I have the Grover's ... they are loud! They install easy and sound great ... nice deep tone. The Hadley's have a diferent tone. The only problems I've had were some leaks on the tank and soleniod ... quick remedy ... no leaks since. The tank even held up in an accident.

I'll second the Grovers! Ever had a cat sitting next to your truck, then fire those air horns off? Cat just plain dissapeared, vanished into thin air! Took a trip skiing a few weeks ago and removed the compressor from under the truck before going... man I missed those horns during that trip!

Go with Hadley, they are first rate horns, really well made. If you are interested, i have an account with Nathan Brass. They are the largest manufacturer of Locomotive horns. They make them in 1 to 5 chimes. They are cast aluminum and can be painted to match your truck or if you know a decent shop, you could have them polished. I have not ordered any in a awhile but last i did, the 5 Chime version (Which is used on EVERY Amtrak engine, plus alot of NS, BNSF, CSX, UP, KCS, and most commuter lines). Was about $740. 00. They have a 1/2 inch inlet, and can be blown from a BBQ style propane tank for about 4 seconds at full blast. They look VERY immpressive on top of a truck, i just feel bad for anybody in front of you if you blow them.

Somebody named Stan emailed me a little while ago with a discount code for JCWhitney. Problem is, there's nowhere on their website I can find to input this code, and email back to Stan bounces. It appears to be an invalid email address of werty@asd.com even though it was delivered by the matrox.com server.

So... if anybody knows where to enter a discount code on the JCWhitney site, please let me know, and I'll order up a set of these things.

Thanks!

Rob

Haven't quite figured out all the ins and outs of TDR web site. My e-mail adress is
swisznie@matrox.com. I don't know where to input the code on jcw's site. I
recommend you place the order by phone. Whatever you do don't pay the full price,
jcw has a low and high limit on their products( in this case 209-249); the price that
you get charged depends on the part number (the letters change from catalog to
catalog) and the price in that catalog. The operator seems to the authority to charge
you a price that falls between the 2 ranges. If you don't succeed with the first
operator just call back.

RobG,

Come by the next San Jose Ram Runner meeting next Tuesday, Apr 17 and ask Mike Crossley to toot his Grovers, then I will demo my Hadleys. Some have said mine are louder. Others say they are about the same. I think it is more a case of the tone than the volume.

My contract in the South Bay is ending this week, so I don't know if I can make it to the meeting on Tuesday. If I can, that'll be a good idea. #ad

Thanks!

What is the right catalog code for the Hadley Air Horn? Are the $209 horns the same as the $249?

14NS9032Y - 239. 95 Lanyard

14NS9033W - 249. 95 Electric Solenoid

I assume I want the electric solenoid one so I can mount the horns under the hood somewhere. The stealth blaster!
