I'm looking to install a set of air horns on my truck. What I would like to know is which horn setup is best. Where the best place to mount everything is. Also is it possable to run rear airbags off of the same tank and compressor. Last but not least best place to by air horns.

Hadley bullys are a good choice. Some say they are louder than the Grovers. Got them at Camping World. They will fit nicely on the cross member right behind the front bumper. Only one hole to drill. I put my compressor next to the battery on the driver side and the tank in front of the wheel on the fender brace (also only one hole to drill). I sourced the 12 volts from a switched point so the compressor will only run with the key on.

I guess you could use the compressor for the air bags but you would need a switch in the air line to change from the air horn tank to the air bags.

Have fun.

:)

I recall a while back someone asking about the horns in the JC Whitney catalog/website. Did you ever try them? How did they work?

I notice this set comes with aux. hose and stuff so you can use the tank and compressor to fill rafts, air mattresses, tires, etc. Where does this plug in? To the tank? The compressor? Does this mean the tank/compressor must be mounted in an accessable place? Enlighten me.

I have the Hadleys from JC Whitney. They do come with a short flex hose, they claim you can use to fill tires, etc. I don't think that little compressor could inflate much of anything. It connects at the tank.

My tank is mounted in front of the drivers wheel well, and the plug in for the hose is fairly accesible.

Give Ricksons Wheels a call, they are in the TDR mag. , which I don't have handy right now, sorry. Anyway, they have a great assortment of kits to choose from and use quality compressors/fittings. Best of all, you can mix and match a set of horns to the compressor.

Horns

A couple pieces of info. One, I got a complete kit from Ricksons and there were a lot of issues. It was a new combo kit and they wired the pressure switch directly to the compressor (took about 2 weeks before the switch fried and the compressor wouldn't shut off). Then they sent me a relay with a new switch and the relay was faulty. They also sent me a tank that had been used. On the other side of the coin, they were a pleasure to deal with. Their customer support is top notch. It's amazing how you can buy something, have so many things go wrong, and you still walk away with a good feeling because the people are such a pleasure to deal with. By the way, I'm happy with my setup now. As far as a mounting location, if you have the Psychotty air (or similar), the space where the old airbox was located is a great spot to mount the compressor, switch, relay, etc. It's protected and very easy to get to. Good luck.
