Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Air in cooling system?

Instead of hijacking a similar thread I'll start this one. Last few months when I start out in the morning I get a gurgling sound from the heater core, suggesting air in the system. No leaks, resevoir is at level. I remember following proper procedure when I changed coolant to get all the air out (can't remember it now). How would air get into system? Rad. cap? Don't think it's been off in 4 or 5 years. TIA

Only way air could get into system is a head gasket issue pushing air into water jackets.

That is not what I wanted to hear, but thanks for the heads up. Will post back when I find the problem.
