I installed a BHAF over the summer (which is still installed on the truck) and it seems like the truck takes considerably longer to warm up this winter. I'm wondering if it's getting a little too much cool air now. As far as cold weather operation, the truck is pretty much the same as last year:

-1/2 of the grill covered (lower 2 quadrants of grill)

-Running Fanless

-Plugging in the truck for 2-3 hours before I leave

I also have an oil temp gauge and this too seems to take a little longer to come up to temp. One other thing, the truck is not getting the mileage this winter as it has in the past two winters (every tank has been recorded).

I will be installing an air intake temp gauge and experimenting with the stock airbox to get a handle on things, but for now I am a little curious about others experiences with a BHAF (or any other high flow air filter setup) during the winter months.

Thanks for your comments,

Ryan

LMAO - Was the dealer able to dig up the part for you?

We had a quick cold spell (about a week or so) when we seen some single digit lows, but we are back up into the 40's for highs and 20's/30's for lows.

I got all 4 openings covered (with my roll of high tech grill covering :D ) and the fan is in the garage. I never did any kind of record keeping, but I know I get heat now at a point (in the road) before my Bonneville blows hot air. The BHAF might make a difference, but I doubt it is that much.

Cooker,

I have been experimenting with a ram air setup for a little over a year now , I have a temp gauge for my air horn 30* to 150* that I have on my A piller and I can tell you that airhorn temps under 50* do hurt your economy, I have the BHAF, fanless and a cold front with 100% blockage from the grill, I currently run with my ramair induction closed off and will do so for the winter, this way I am pulling all preheated air from under the hood and I can get anywhere from 20* to 30* higher than ambient temps at the airhorn. We havent been below zero yet, seams the colder it gets the harder time I have , My goal is to be at 90* airhorn temp but it doesnt look as if I will get it in the winter months however in the spring summer and fall all I have to do is monitor the temps and open my ramair actuator cable as lower temps are needed.

cheers, Kevin
