Amsoil in the engine

Performance Upgrades for Camper Hauling?

When I bought this truck, the PO had installed some sort of piping and an Amsoil dry air filter. There is no box that the air cleaner sets in and actually the pipe was zip tied to the battery cable. I dont really like this set up, but not sure what brand the pipes are to find a box. It also has a new round air pipe on the top of the engine also going into the intake. IT has a precleaner cover on the air filter, but thats all

Dumb question, but why on the fluid? What should I put in it then? I have never liked the brakes on this thing...no pedal and real hard to push. (Guess my Fords have spoiled me) About ready to replace the rear calipers. They are the only thing in the brake system that hasn't been changed

THANKS for the info and help

You can put a 6.7 airbox in our trucks I guess. You could also find an airbox out of a 04.5 and up truck(hole in the side is larger). You could probably find one for real cheap as a lot of guys put in aftermarket systems. Post an ad in the classifieds. Nice rig good luck.

If that extension is a 4" fitting, you could also install a BHAF like many do. With a metal strap, make a filter bracket for just over nothing in cost and have a filter good for about 100k. Those that have them are extremely happy than when they had their stock filter unit and less trash in the engine compartment. You can get a filter like the BHAF filter from NAPA for under $60. The support can be from something you might have in the scrap bin or less than $5 from Lowes or Home Depot. If your looking at wanting the filter minder like the stock unit, drill a hole in the rubber end of the filter and insert the minder, it's the same thing.

Brake fluid is hydroscopic. It absorbs water over time. i flush the system every 2-3 years. Start at the farthest wheel and bleed until the fluid runs clean. After all the lines are flushed, open the bleeders one at a time and push the pistons back to expel the last of the old fluid.

It will prolong the life of the master cylinder and calipers, and also exercises the bleeder valves so that if you have to open one for any reason, there's a pretty good chance it will open as opposed to breaking off.
