Just wondering if anyone else has seen a cold air system that replaces your

stock box and uses the hole in the fender plus has another air pickup coming

out of it that looks like it goes down out of the enigne compartment. I could have swared I seen one in a diesel power magazine. Thought this would be a great thing. I first thought it was made by voolant but can't find it on there site.

Sounds like a 3rd Gen item. The 3rd Gen air box is behind the grill where it belongs. 2nd Gens put the battery there?? I'd like to put some louvers on the fender and snorkle out to there, but that's a custom job that I'm not up to yet.

I like the way the intake from S&B is enlosed . I think your defeating the purpose of getting more air if your just pulling hot air off your motor. The other one looks like It would work great, but it's made for an 03 and up. As Boondocker said they put our air boxes back behind the battery for some reason so routing that hose to the bumper may be a little harder. Just wondering Ward do have as much noise with that S&B as

the open filters?

i moved my battery trey back like a 3rd gen , had to do some cutting on the trey but other than that it was easy and a 3rd gen aftermarket intake system will fit , but i just have the AFE laying in the corner it stays warm were the other it was HOT

I was just reading another thread about air intakes that had me woried. They were talking about the pour job K&N does filtering. I have a K&N drop in filter know. I was

ready to order a new intake from S&B until I seen there filter are oiled also?? I have seen first hand what the oil does. When I cleaned my map an Iat sensors thay looked like they had been dipped in oil then rubbed greese all over them. Anbody have any thoughts on the filtering of the S&B. I want something that will filter well and give me more cold air to help keep egts in check.

If you want to keep the increased airflow AND go back to the superior filtering of a pleated paper media, your going to have to find something bigger.

And not BHAF big either.

Something like Peterbilt big.
