Does anybody know if a stock airbox from an 07 5. 9 is th same as an 04. 5 5. 9? I want to replace my AFE stage 2 and go back to stock intake

Thanks regcabguy--so all the mounting points etc are the same?I just want to be sure cause I found one reasonably priced.

What are the reasons to take the aFe off in favor of the stock system?

I've been thinking about re-installing my stock air box/intake and removing my aFe Stage II.

Airbox changed with the 6. 7.

I would not recommend the aFe filter... I have not had any good experiences with their quality.

Do the PSM mod as suggested and get an Amsoil Eea nano filter or an AEM synthetic drop-in filter. Neither use oil and both filter better (finer particles) than the oiled filters. Also consider the DPP "cool hose" to replace the stock slinky to the turbo.

I have tried the aFe Stage II Si and was not impressed with fit up or servicing.

I have tried the aFe Pro Guard 5 in the stock box and then the Pro Guard 7 in the stock box. Didn't care for the oil service procedure... or the fact that the oil may "dry up" over time.

I am running the AEM stock drop-in and have the Amsoil as a back-up.

I don't know if Amsoil has changed their design, but I initially used an Amsoil drop in. Mine had a gap of probably a 1/8" around it's mounting surface. My Amsoil rep said Amsoil was aware of it and offered me a refund but I've still got it. My rep told me he'd run one forever in Utah, and the intake hose passed the "white glove'" test. The sealing surface gets compressed by the upper box thus providing the security. However, every other filter I've run hugs that lower box better. Dodge has a new "double deep" design out now similiar to the 6. 7 one,but it lists for $41. 00 here locally.

Im running one of the new deep 5. 9L MoPar "severe duty" filters. Its a stout piece with epoxy ribbons, steel grate, and spray oiled filter media. It should do well in dusty or off road conditions with its extra capacity.
