Yeah, it has been a BUSY day! Also see my post about the DSS installation. .

The "question":

I ordered Air Lift "Super Duty" air bags (Kit no. 57215) for my 1999 2400 4wd truck. I started to install them today, and one of the first things in the instructions was to measure the ride height FIRST, so you will know how high to pump them up when you have a load on the truck. Well, I figured I would measure BOTH sides and wouldn't you know it, I got two different measurements! Would 1/2 tank of fuel make the left side sit 1/2" lower than the right?

Between this finding and the problem with the DSS install, it makes ya wonder if maybe there IS something wrong with my frame.

The "FYI":

After measuring the ride height I figured I should read through the rest of the instructions before proceeding any further. That is when I saw the 5th Wheel Hitch notice at the top of the page:

If you have a Reese style 5th wheel hitch kit installed, use kit #57342 instead of kit #57215 or contact Air Lift customer service for the correct brackets at 1-800-248-0892 ext 1. Ask for bracket kit #26275
.

Well, I'll be lucky if I can get the RIGHT brackets here and installed before I leave here early next week. :(

You have been warned!

Another "FYI":

For you folks that DON'T have a Reese 5th wheel hitch, SUMMIT has a good deal on the Air Lift bags.

AIR-57215 Chevrolet/GMC/Dodge/Ford: rear axle, Super Duty air lift system $201. 69

Tim,

Do a search on this subject. I posted a question about this a couple of weeks ago and it seems everybody who responded has a left lean. My truck sits an inch low on the left with a tank of fuel. I noticed mine when installing add-a-leafs and they made no improvement for lean.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I remembered seeing a post somewhere about "My truck leans", but I hadn't read that one yet and then when I went looking for it I couldn't find it. Too busy juggling too many things at one time here.

On the bright side, next time my fuel guage quits working, I can just install a calibrated level on my dash, right? If it leans 1 inch to the left = full tank. 1/2 inch = half tank. Level truck = walking time! :D

I got the new kit and installed it last night.

After spending about $70 (difference between the two kits, plus 2nd day air to ship it) and putting me about a week behind schedule, I found out I didn't need the #57342 kit!

On my truck, the L bracket on the Reese bars was on the forward mounts and were not in the way of the the AirLift kit.

I'll post the photos later...
