I am looking to add an air locker to my front axle. Stupid question: what axle do we have the 60 or 44? Also on Summint racings ordering page, the have it with different ratios. Would my front end have the 3. 54 like my rear? IF not which locker do I order.

Jeremy

The gear ratio is the same on the front as rear--it has to be or you'll have major probs--the air locker is great, it can be engaged and disengaged as needed--I really like mine... . chris

Chris, I talked to Summit and now know which one I need. WHat all is involved in installing? Do I have to set anything up? The salesman said I may need to dial something in to like 7/100s of an inch. And I also heard I have to drill hole or holes in housing to obviously get the air in. Do you use the air compresser to also fill tires? If so, how do you like it or is a gas station pump them quicker? This is part of my reasoning behind the locker, after I pull I can refill the tires easier than finding an outlet for the compressor I carry with me. Is the Heavy Duty airline really needed?

Jeremy

this was the only thing I haven't installed myself on my truck--so I'm of no help with the installation--

the compressor can fill the tires, but it takes about 5-7 minutes give or take for each tire-there's always time right after you pull to fill the tires, plus the gas stations out here are not that much faster, they used to be in the good ol days, but not any more--

the heavy duty line is news to me, I hope I have it--I'd get it---

yes you have to drill a hole in the pumpkin to make it operate--

my compressor is mounted on the front passenger side wheel well next to the battery-from this location all tires can be reached to air up--

hope this helps... . chris

Installing an ARB requires the bearing cap and the pumpkin housing to be drilled for the air hose. Also, you'll have to setup the gears. I would not recommend this install for a do it yourselfer. You could really mess up your gears if you don't know how to set up the gears. Go to an offroad shop that has done

a lot of these installs. ARB has gotten somewhat of a bad rap for failures, but I believe most are due to improper installs. I've wheeled for over 3 years (moab, tellico, poteau, clayton) on some very hard core trails and have not had a failure yet. I would not recommend 4 wheel parts and wholesalers for the install. Most of the install guys don't have enough experience (10 years +) setting up the gears.
