2500/3500 ride height

Need some help !

I have the trailer saver hitch. Mounting in the truck bed, it will work with any 5W. The TrailAir and 5thAirborn are mounted on the 5W and has to changed if you trade 5W's and also may require a different model.

We've got the 5th Airborne pin box on the trailer and a fixed PullRite Super 5th hitch in the truck. It's a very nice combination & plenty good enough for normal highways. But I think we'll get a TrailerSaver for the truck before our next trip to the Arctic. We did 3000 miles off pavement in 2009 and plan on even more in the future where having even more cushion between the truck and trailer can make a real difference.

SearsK was correct. The TrailerSaver stays with the truck and can pull any trailer, while the TrailAir & 5th Airborne pin boxes bolt to the trailer and may or may not fit the next trailer.

We have a 5th Airborn and really like it a lot! Very smooth on the very bad highway system across the western states! The B & W companion also has some cushioning to it also! Great Combo pulling our 38 ft 5ft.

Cumminz did a custom install of a HitchCrafter (which is very slick) air ride 5th wheel, here is a pic a standard install of the same hitch using standard rails.

That hitch is tougher than you can imagine !! :D

5th Wheel Hitchs'

Trying to decide which air ride hitch to get for a 26' 5th wheel. Looking at Trailair, 5th Airborne and Trailer saver.

I have looked at Trailair & 5th Airborne, but think at this point I am going to purchase a Mor-Ryde hitch which costs less and several people have recommended it to me.

Greetings 5'ers;

May I comment on my experience: 34' HitchHiker, 14K+#, with a Demco GlideRide Pin Box, hooks to a SuperGlide hitch.

The GlideRide is effective absorbing the "bucking" of trailer versus truck movement on heaved roads.

After much experimentation to improve ride "vertically" at the hitch I settled on Air Lift suspension bags, with small compressor for $565 in Spring 2010. This single item made a most effective improvement. At 80psig, my "overload" leaf spring pack was 2" away from the "stops", as would be found when unloaded. Something else to consider, is that these bags provide this extra 2" of air travel over rough roads. I feel it's a much less expensive & more versatile solution to isolating the pin box from the road.
