2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Airbag light on and cruise control inoperative

Hey everybody,

A family friend has a '97 2500. Recently he had the airbag light come on. Yesterday he ran on a 35 minute drive on the interstate and noticed that his cruise control wasn't working. We did some research and have read that it could be the clockspring. Is this a possibility? Are there any other sensors in the steering column that could affect both of these items? I got my Haynes manual out and it doesn't even mention it. There isn't any other problem on the truck at the moment.

Both cruise and airbag use the clockspring,a drb3 will give the data you need to be sure
