Need options on airbag setup. . looking at just the bags on top of the axle tube and fill at the rear. . is firestone the best or what? TIA

I am running the Air Lift 5000 series with the Automatic Leveling On-Board air-compressor system. I like the ability to air up the bags after the camper is hitched up and the bags will maintain it's set pressure as needed.

I run the firesstone riderite and they work great only thing I did was instead of dual fill I went to a single and i think it work's better because it put's equal air in both sides at once put the valve right at the back of truck top hole on license plate holder

The only thing with a single fill is when you turn, the weight pushes the air from one bag to the other. . so no support on turns.

Are you towing or hauling? I would also recommend separate fill lines. If hauling a truck camper try placing the fill lines in the wheel well. My Pacbrake air bags are direct bolt on. Two friends are also running them on their Dodge. All are happy.

There is a current thread on this in the 3rd gen forum... . Pac Brake bags loosing air?

Nick

Replace the bag air fittings with fittings from the hardware store. They have a tendency to leak at the swivel, and if the line is not cut square. Do it right the first time.

I was just advising Eric, I have two sets of Firestones, so far no problems.

Sounds good doing the better hardware. . Will get those. . . My 5th Airborne hitch has the push on fitting and I had to cut and reinstall the hose to get a better seal. . .

I am going to mount the hoses at the rear which is where I have an air chuck on the front of the trailer to air up the hitch airbag and the trucks now. .

Just got the Pacbrake unit in the mail. . these guys know how to pack a box!. . even the box with the bolts in it had paper fill in it. can't wait to install it.

Congrats on the air bags. I've been very happy with their performance on my truck. I don't change the pressure often as my truck's weight is fairly consistent, but I check the pressure regularly when I check the engine oil, etc... and loss of air pressure hasn't been an issue. I drilled out the license plate bolt holes for the fill location.
