My sister bought my 2000 Dakota (babyRam) last year. Awhile back she was involved in a wreck & the airbags deployed. After the beating they gave her, she doesn't want to replace them. She lives in Louisiana and, according to her, if the airbag warning light is on, the truck will not pass inspection.

My question is, if I got a switch like the one that turns off the passenger-side airbag in my Ram, and spliced it into the driver's side airbag wiring, would it fool the computer into thinking that the airbag is functional- thereby not lighting up the warning light? Has anyone tried this?

Bill your sister might want to rethink the airbag thing. If she gets in another accident and the airbag has been disabled the insurance will deny her claims

The trucks with the switches also have

Software to allow them

We could add the switch and change the

Software in 03 with the proper authority

Most dealers would not take on the job

Due to possible liability issues

I think it is a Federal Law and most State laws which require them. Not a good idea and certainly I cannot think of any dealer or garage mechanic that would do it. I suppose for enough money you can get almost anything done.
