When I originally installed my airdog the only place I could find to mount on a short bed was right below the drivers door on the frame rail. It hangs down below the frame and rocker pannels. This would not be a problem for a highway only truck but since I've installed a carli lift and go off road more often I fear damaging the pump or ripping it off accidentally leaving me stranded. Any ideas on a better location? Here's what it looks like now, its perfect for servicing but not for offroad in.

Looking at your picture for some reason your set up seems to hang lower than mine did when mine was installed in the same spot.

I ran into a problem with it on a road trip during a winter drive when I got into a wet sloppy snow accumulated & froze on the filters and basically gelled the fuel within the filters.

I moved mine to the front of the truck bed, its mounted to the front wall of the bed and to the outside of the frame. I did reinforce the spot where it was mounted with plate steel on both sides of the beds front wall. Its up out of the airflow and has yet to get snow accumulation on it because of its more protected mount, it cant be seen unless you get down and look under the bed of the truck.

Thanks for the reply big nasty, so that I understand correctly, you mounted it inside the bed? And can you attach a picture

No its not inside the bed its between the outside sheet metal and the box of the bed of the truck. Its a Tight fit but can be done. I will try to get a picture in the next few days for you. Just to make sure that we are talking about the same pump mine is an Airdog 100 with the attached filter/ WS. I did just notice re-reading your truck description that you have a Short bed. Mine is a LB so don't know if that would make that much of a difference or not in the front of the bed and the wheel well.

I understand where you mounted it, yeah I have a short bed. I'll have to do someasuring to see if I can make that fit.

I can't remember exactly, but I mounted mine inside the frame and I modified the bracket so I could slide part of the bracket between the fuel tank and frame rail. It's been years, so I'll try to see if I have pics.

Thanks for the reply, and post those pictures when you find them and let me know what you had to do to modify that back plate.

I no longer have the truck, and can't seem to find the pics. From what I remember I had the AD at a right angle to the frame and I had to drill new holes in the mountains bracket to mount it that way. I will continue to look for the pics

Thats not a bad idea right there between the fuel tank and t-case. Im wondering if having a transfer case skid plate would effect bolting it up there. I'll have to crawl under and take some measurements. Thanks again

I had skids on my truck, and I got lucky the mods I did to the bracket gave me space between it and the skids and I completely forgot about the skid plate until I bolted it back up! I got lucky, and as you can tell I forgot to mention it to you!!

Did you weld a plate 90° off the original AD plate and bolt the mounting bracket to that? Then put 90° fittings for the fuel lines?

I can't remeber if it came bent or I bent it myself. I know I had to drill new holes for it. Is the bracket painted black, or powder coated? If it's painted, I mord then likely bent it myself and repainted it.

Look at the first pic, the frame of that truck was just like mine. It had that funny bracket on it the is just to the left of the airdog mount. Since I could not mount the airdog where the bracket was, I flipped the bracket around and slid the frame portion of the mount between the frame and fuel tank. That's how I was able to get passed that stupid bracket. The only thing I had to do was drill two new holes for the airdog pump mount since they were now on the bottom of the bracket because I flipped it. I never bent the bracket, my bracket came like that. And somehow all the fittings they sent worked for that set up, because I didn't buy any more. I hope this helps, I've been searching all possible forums I've been on.

I sure appreciate all your help. I was under my truck sizing things up this afternoon. I think I could weld a plate 90 off the frame bracket and bolt the pump mount to that. It would be in the yours was. Thanks again, like I said in my earlier post, I fear ripping the pump off 4 wheelin

Haven't gotten around around to it. I need to dedicate a few hours to it since the truck will be inoperable. I just can't find the time right now. Hopefully will soon
