Yep. I have been running a BHAF from Here- Top notch. I have over 35K miles without any problems with this setup in some of the harshest environments on the west slope of Colorado, on the Roan Plateau and into Utah.
The one you want is the Fleetguard AH19037. When it comes to filters in general my favorite place to get them is Ken's Performance Solutions. He seems to have great prices on oil and air filters and he usually checks up to make sure I got my shipment in timely fashion, top notch customer service http://www.kensperformancesolutions.com/Dodge_Fleetguard_Filters.html
Wow JreedMc, this place is awsome, they got everything, a flow guide, prefilters and even a service indicator option for BHAF super cheap prices. Thank you for finding for me!!
Yea Cecil, This filter is way less restrictive and lasts forever, while cleaning the air to 30micron. great for dirty locations. This website JReedMC found www.BigHAF.com has the hole system at killer prices, way cheaper than the other places by like 50%!
Cummins advises against K&N filters, as many on TDR do. If you want your engine to last I would get rid of it. Back when they were fairly popular 12-14 years ago several guys had issues with K&Ns filtering effectively, including the one I ran on my 2001 when it was new. Thread I started on it in 2000 https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/45490-K-N-doesn-t-stop-dirt!!!?highlight=K&N+doesn't
You may have to take a short piece of 4" PVC pipe and use it as an adapter sleeve between the air filter and intake elbow. The elbow wil slide over the filter but there is nothing firm to tighten the hose clamp down to. A 4" long piece of 4" PVC pipe will accomplish that.
I ordered my my BHAF and flow guide from www.BigHAF.com on Tuesday and got it on Friday. I got the mount/flowguide and the element and a prefilter and the filterminder just for fun. I took a total of 15 min. to install and it looks sweet! I can see why they made the mount/flowguide because the filter would get wasted rattling around on the fender well. It also keeps the air comming from the fresh air intake to keep the EGT's down. I tested my new BHAF on a 20mi. mountain pass outside Denver Colorado pulling a 6000lb camper trailer. I installed the BHAF and flowguide and went up the mountain using cruze control and would take EGT measurements at markers on the road. Then I would cuze back down to denver and intall the stock breather system and do the test again taking measurements at the same markers on the road. I did this three times with each intake system and found ZERO differences in EGT's between the two. Plus im getting much more air and my torque seems much better with the BHAF. Im really liking this BHAF and flowguide!
Wow, it does all come full circle. Guess I should have capitalized on the BHAF, or at least copy righted the name. And yep, still running one after all these years.
