Has anyone installed an Airsep closed crankcase ventilation system on their Cummins? From their web page they say it is better for the engine but then why doesn't Cummins do it? Opinions? If you have installed it what was your cost? It would eliminate the smell and mess from the road draft tube.

I removed the worthless breather bottle and replaced it with a hose that goes straight down and ends about 2 inches from the sway bar.

No smell, no oil all over the engine, no bottle to drain. Total cost, $2. 00. , total installation time, 10minutes. The Airsep is used on boats alot where you dont want oily exhaust on your white fiberglass or rolling back into the boat. For a Cummins Ram, i just think it is overkill. Unless your towing a pristine white trailer every day, you are not going to notice any oil mist anyhow. I drove ahead of one of Slipknots tour busses for 320 miles and the bus had no residue on it at all.

Cummins doesn't do anything more than necessary because it would cost them MONEY:( . Don't worry though, pretty much all the companies run that way. Why doesn't Cummins stand up to the KDP issue? Why does DC keep putting weak auo trannies behind the Cummins? Fifth gear in the manuals?... ... Goes on an on. I looked into the Airsep, and have seen it on a couple of trucks. I opted to not put it on until I had run out of things to do. It (If my lousy memory serves me correct) was about $400 or so. The main real benefit being a clean(er) engine compartment and undercarriage.

You only need an Airsep if you offroad on extremely steep hills, then it works excellent. Friend of mine's work supplied CTD has one but his job involves cruising powerline roads. Before the Airsep he was dumping out up to 2 qts a day on the steep hills. I thought they were more like $700 but could be wrong.
