Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Airtex pump

Lift pump on engine was three years old the one on the frame was four years old. Thanks to having installed a fuel pressure gage I noticed I started loosing fuel pressure downto 6 psi. on medium acceleration. I made a 120 mile round trip to Emory Texas to Performance Diesel to have it checked out . Found out the the POS lift pump on the engine had failed the engine was running on the assist pump on the frame. The pump on the engine was number three. the original plus two replacements. They installed a Airtex lift pump on the engine and left the assist pump running with it. Current psi now is about 25 psi at idle running at 75 mph the press dropped to about 21 psi. Hard acceleration may drop it to 16 to 18 psi. There to seems to be some question about the presures this type pump might make so here is a possible answer. Very happy with this deal as we travel to Colorado each year to get away from the East Texas heat!!!
