I'm noting some threads here that give me some pause concerning my choice of the Aisin transmission. I mainly bought our 2017 3500 dully with the Aisin transmission for pulling a 17,000# 5r but clearly had planned on using it also for small tasks around town (town being 55 mile north of Houston). Think 20 miles round trip to get ice cream. Is it bad for my Aisin to make short trips not loaded?

NO problem here.... half my miles are back and forth to work empty...which is 12 miles one way. Why do you think it would be bad for the transmission?

I cannot be specific, but I'm seeing posts to threads here that indicate this info.

Sometimes you have to take whats mentioned on here with a grain of salt. Now go get your ice cream and enjoy your truck.

I have almost 53K on my "DailyDriver" Dually with AISIN. Run TH and EB all the time and you will have no issues with drivability. Oh I also tow 33-35K combined with it, what a pleasure!!!

Add "Dually" to your public profile and 2 or 4wd as it helps with getting questions answered!

No. Just run it. I love mine. All I'd do if I had to daily mine is load about a ton of rock behind the axle. Much smoother ride.

I have 40K on you 2015, almost 50% of that towing in TH and EB on in 5th gear, and remaining daily driving with EB on TH off. No issues! Love it. I sometimes push TH on on a freeway exit ramp. SnoKing

The Aisin does not care how it is driven. It just works and never fails. Not sure what makes you think it would be bad for it to just drive it.

The answer to this is in the first sentence of the original post........:-laf

When asked, Stan Gozzi head West coast Warranty Rep about the AISIN a few years ago at MayMadness, he said "they don't break".

My sweet Joy totally agrees with you. She was really upset on our first long trip b4 we got our 5r. Her daughter and granddaughter rode in the back seat. All three of the girls were not impressed with the ride compared to our just traded '09 F250 4x4 diesel SB. Said got bounced to death. That changed after hooking to the 5r with 3,000+# pin.

My problem might be I just started believing all the "stuff" fed to me by the likes of Snoking and Cummins12V98:-{} Just kidding guys. I like it here so much, I'm getting ready to get on the paid program. My first Ram and this is the place to be.

If you are not already run 80psi front all the time and 35 solo.

a friend of mine drives his 2017 3500 dually Aisin 4x4 as a daily driver with 90% use 5 mile stop and go between home and work. he hasn't had any problems and loves his truck. about once every month and a half he tows his 20klb fiver for local camping trips. Ron

I can't think of any threads that discussed any specific issue with an Aisin as a daily driver.....emission components, yes (short trips), but no trans issues.
