I recently drained the fluid and changed the filter on the truck. I do have the Aisin transmission and everything went perfect. Buttoned up the pan and filled it. When I started it, put it in reverse it was as though someone hit me and then the engine light lit up on the dash and then service air suspension displayed. I put in drive and same thing, felt like the truck was hit and slammed into drive. I shut it down and restarted, shifting was back to normal, service air suspension went away, but the light was still on the dash. Shut it down again, restart and like nothing happened, I even scanned for codes..NATTA!
Has anyone else experienced this? Totally got my attention. Have driven 1k miles since and she just purring along....even better!!
Thanks

Sounds like some air got in the system and took a minute to clear.

Real odd for the service air suspension light thou.

More than likely air. I have done the quick learn at May Madness for the group and on an Aisin you would swear the trans dropped on the ground while it performs the shifts. When they want to they can hit REALLY hard.

Is there a trick to avoid getting air in the system when you change the fluid n' filter or is this something you just live with?

I have serviced my AISIN twice with ZERO issues like that. When I start mine I high idle for a bit before putting in gear.

All you nay sayers that comment on my sputter shut off and add fluid exchange method what say you??? Sounds like the trans has suffered permanent damage!

Sorry to scare you! YES giving the few a hard time that constantly have negative comments about my methods to service my trucks.

Your trans is fine BUT next time run the truck in park for a couple minutes before placing in park.

I like changing ALL my fluid when doing service! So far I have not figured a way to do so with the AISIN.

Anyone with a bright idea how to do so please post it.

TIP! When doing a trans service get it hot and check level to know if it's full or how much low it is. Now drain and then measure EXACTLY how much fluid you removed, even let the filter drain into the receptacle. Now add back that exact amount and WaLa your trans is FULL.

HA! This place seems like I could have a beer with some fellars here ;-).
About the complete fluid change, would you be able to just dump it from the line going to the cooler and then pick up the new fluid going back? Something different about these guys? I know with my 48re the pump would not be engaged in park, does the Aisin continuously pump Park or not?
I also went with the Mobil ATF 3039, which I swear is ATF+4 in another bottle.

Some hydrostatic transmissions would run the wrong direction when they had air in the system. That really wakes you up.

Ron and I dropped the Aisin pan on my 2015 and installed a new filter and 9 quarts of fluid. I had a 1/4" extension with wobble end and a Craftsman 10mm socket with a very thin sidewall. We were able to get to the 4 rear bolts on the pan that are sorta blocked by the cross member. Got a P0868 code on start up. Reset that and everything was fine after idling(and up idling) for a while in park and neutral before putting it gear.

It will be figured out my Son!

So whoever said they could RnR those bolts without lifting the trans I now see how it can be done! AWESOME!!!

GS your idea on the Loctite spray was a good idea to hold the gasket in place. We masked off the inside of the pan so the spray was only on the pans gasket surface.

I have done two trans HALF AZZ services on my 15 with zero codes or hard shifts. Biggie is to let it run in park for a bit then neutral then drive to neutral to reverse.

We measured the exact amount of fluid removed then once buttoned up added the exact same volume.

"KING" did you check fluid level once you made it home?

I just want to add.....how many dudes does it take to do a trans service?, I can accomplish this task all by myself. Just sayin. :D:D
