'17 3500 HD Aisin, 4wd, SRW. Dropped the pan, changed filter, drained out 8qts+1cup. buttoned it back up, replaced atf with proper mopar, same amount that drained out. Started truck, no leaks, but now it slams into reverse, does the same if I go from reverse to Drive. no noise from transmission except the clunk. did I make a mistake somewhere, or does the transmission need to idle for a bit to refill properly? First time changing the filter, transmission shifted easy/smooth before change. Thanks for any advice!!

update...cycled the engine on and off 6 times, check engine light went out on the fifth start, shifts fine now. found this bit of info on a previously undiscovered you tube vid.
couple other comments...
truck has about 90k on it. dealer (mistakenly?) changed the filter at 28K when I brought it in for a drain and fill. Weather they actually changed the filter or not, the inside of the transmission looked pristine. Very slight amount of gunk on the pan bottom and magnets. Fluid looked like new.
Gasket is supposed to be reusable. it had a couple spots where it appeared that the bolts had been overtorqued a bit and squished the gasket. the gasket had been attached to the pan with what I would imagine was form a gasket or something similar. I changed the gasket, cleaned up the pan and bolts real well, and it went back together nicely. I havent seen a torque value for these bolts, but I think it is about 6-8 ft/#. they were not that tight when I removed them, but 6-8ft/# seemed like a lot for the gasket. I snugged them up to about the same force it took to remove them. WAG on that. check for leaks down the road.
I had read reports that the bolts can snap off pretty easily. Mine went in and out smoothly. it did appear that they had a lock washer on them, but the washer didnt come off, so I left it. changing these bolts out to cap screws would make things much easier, especially dealing with the four bolts that you need to use a wobble extension on. just my opinion.
There is A LOT more fluid behind the filter than you would think. be prepared.
For those that havent done this service yet, it's not that hard, just work slow. I would also put the truck up on about 6" blocks.
Time to go for a ride -

You probably had a code set when you finished and restarted the truck. P0868 was common for him to post about, but here is one that kinda describes what you mention.

Clear the codes and move on for now is probably all you can do. Sounds like it worked it self out, kinda.

Here is gsbrockman's go to thread for the AISIN service. This is a 4500 C&C so not exact rig to rig here. Close enough example.

There is no mention of clearing codes in the Alldata stuff after a standard fluid change. But he lists it comes up often.

I've not see the gasket. But check out post #27 of that link, it would depend on how it's found of course.

Glad the OP did not reuse the questionable one.

#27 from Greg's post....
"I have also found (during 6 sump filter changes on my previous 2014 RAM 3500 DRW with AS69RC and compromise 3.73 gearing) that a light coating of Loctite Spray Adhesive works wonders in keeping the gasket in place during reinstallation, and it does not prevent one from using it a few more times."

Not worth taking the chance IMHO.

I have used Gregs method of spraying the pan and one side of the gasket with the red LocTite contact adhesive. WORKS GREAT!!!!!!!
