Windshield Washer and Lumbar Support Not Working

I just bought a 2019 3500 SWL 4X4 with the HO Cummins and Aisin transmission. My old truck was a 99 2500 with 5.9 Cummins and the 5 speed manual and a Banks kit so I have no true reference. It seems to me that taking off from a full stop and not getting into the throttle real hard that the shifting between 1st and 3rd gears seems a little jerky, not smooth. Is this normal? At speed shifting up and down seems smooth and normal. I will say it is a world of difference in power from my old 5.9 manual even with the Banks kit and I like the feeling. I just get worrisome when things are not what I am use to or expect. Any insight is appreciated.

Yes, depending on speed, and load you will get that. It feels like the torque converter goes lock-unlock-lock a couple times. I found it very annoying at first, but have learned to ignore it. Passengers sometimes look puzzled, though:D

Pretty normal. You using Normal or Tow/haul mode? You might try the other mode as you might like the shift points better. Tow/Haul shifts at a bit higher RPM but is also firmer shifts. The Aisin is a Medium Duty transmission so it will always be a little rougher shifting than a Light Duty Transmission.

It is in Normal Mode. Have not even tried to pull yet so didn't think of using the Tow/Haul mode. Heck, I haven't even used the 4 wheel drive yet. Still learning but loving it. Thanks

Thanks, I figure I will get use to it as well. The one thing I do miss from 99 is the sound of the engine and turbo. It puts the wife to sleep and makes for a nice quite drive. Now she stays awake and wants to talk.

Since this is a new truck for you I'm going to make a suggestion. You should run with Full Exhaust brake all the time. It keeps the vains in the VGT moving so they don't carbon up and lockup down the road. Just realize that in T/H, the brake will flat slow the truck down when it comes on.

Thanks for the advise. I will do that.

Knowing your configuration and axle ratio will help......

Additionally......every AS69RC equipped truck I’ve owned has generally required 400–500 miles before they “settle in” with what some would deem as awkward shifting.

It’s a true medium duty transmission, so it’s not going to shift like the A8 In my Challenger T/A.

The truck had 10K miles on it when I bought it. It was the personal truck of the dealership Owner and CEO. He wanted a different color and a 2020. Must be nice to be rich.

Thanks....I guess after closely looking at your avatar it seems you have a SRW....so you have 3.73’s it seems.

In the first few hundred miles my 2018 couldn't even find 1st gear coming to a stop on a grade. Apparently it's a learning transmission. Regardless it bangs the gears now and then. The worst point is needing 1st gear rolling up a steep grade, like a driveway, that's apparently a rare situation. Resist the normal temptation to add throttle till it's done shifting even though you are slowing down. Mine will chirp the tires shifting into 1st if I add throttle going up my driveway.

The above "needs refinement" said I would not own a new RAM truck otherwise as the non HO and Chrysler transmission appeared to refuse to "go" when one slaps the go pedal down. It's NOT like letting the clutch out and we are moving for either transmission or adding power on the freeway. Just one is quicker at getting on it than the other.

Tow/Haul will stay on across starts as long as there is a trailer brake detected. EB has to be manually enabled every time. They think we are too stupid to turn off if we are on ice is the only reason I can think of.

Completely normal this one of odd things with the transmission, remember to turn on exhaust brake on dry ground, not recommend on ice period.;)
Trust me, I knw to well what can happen if the exhaust brake is engaged on slick roads. Same goes for no cruise control when it is slick. Had a boat try to jackknife on me when hitting an ices bridge on an upgrade. No fun. Draws changing experience....

Why could they not made that part of the cold start protocols? I know on my 99 I had the Banks brake and it would cycle on at idle if the engine was cold. That made sure it cycled on a regular basis.

If you turn on the EB after starting it will engage until the engine is up to around 180 (might be 160 don't remember for sure). It just won't do it automaticity as the brake is defaulted off on start.
