Ok Dieselheads! Enlighten me on the manufacturer of the new 2007 six speed auto! Boy am i glad to see the :D CUMMINS :D motor still in the dodge. 6. 7 maybe 8. 3 in the near future? Hope the rest of the driveline holds up. This kind of torque the right foot will tell the story!

I'm told the Aisin Transmission is really a Borg-Warner. A Asian company bought out B-W and the new name is Aisin. There is an empty relay position under the electrical cover of 2006 trucks that is labeled "Asian Trans" or some such thing. The transmission is supposed to have been on the road for some time and should have most of the bugs out.

Aisin is a Japanese based company that has been building heavy duty 5 speeds for a while. They build the units in the Fuso, GMC cabovers, and smaller FL series trucks. The 6 speed was a ground up design instead a make over of the 5 speed they have been using for 5 years.

By all accounts its a pretty beefy trans but like anything else it will take time to see if it will be a good one. Aisin did some co-manufacture deal with Warner and there are quite a few of these Aisin Warner transmissions around. They seem to have a pretty good rep so far. Let's hope DC hasn't cut the corners so far it ends as a weak link.

yea its cool until you have to replace it :( right now the 48re wont cost ya much to rebuild... with that said i am glad the new 6 speed auto will be available. fro comparison go price out a allison unit if you have to replace it :(
