Does anyone have any experience with the Clifford Intelligard 7000 system? I am looking at (it) or splicing in a kill switch. As lazy as it is, I'm liking the remote start feature. Supposedly the Clifford has a starter and fuel intterupt. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I have the avant guard 4 on my truck (which is just an intelligard with more goodies) and I love it. Clifford even offers a remote start for standard diesels. It's definately the next-to-best things on my truck (next to the signal mirrors).

BLKDEMON,

thanks for the input. Where did you get the signal mirrors, and how much? I have seen them on two Fords and thought they were a slick idea.

i got them from carl's deals page. I don't know if they are still available, but if they are then I would hurry and order.

Got mine from Carls also although I believe the GP is over. www.kwmuth.com

VeeTenJeff, if you opt for the mirrors give me an email and I'll help you put them on. I learned a couple of tricks and I have a door panel removal tool #ad

OOOOHHHH. No sense in spending $10 for the tool for 1 job.

Justbeamn;

Everett, Massachusetts is a very long drive from Lake Stevens, Washington . He might need to find a closer tooling source.

I thought the drive was long enough moving from Auburn, WA to here.

To funny, I had a slight case of bislexia. Maybe it "would" be cheaper to spend $10 for the tool.

Clifford, IMO, is not that good of an alarm/remote start unit. I have had many bad experiences with them after installing them at a shop I worked at. This was a few years ago, maybe their quility has improved since them.

If you are looking at an alarm/remote start combo, the two that I would recommend very highly are the Code Alarm Sure Start LX and the Viper 550 ESP. Both are diesel compatible and are very high quality units.

I have a the Code Alarm in my truck and I really like some of the features it has over the Viper. You can't go wrong with either.

As far as installation, they are relatively easy to install. The only wire that might be difficult to locate is the Tach wire. Or, of course, you could opt to have one "professionally" (right?) installed.

Sorry I couldn't address your original question about the Clifford alarm more, but I will never own or install another Clifford piece of **** again.

VeeTenJeff,
I would not recommend the Viper 550ESP. I have had nothing, but problems with the autostart system since day one #ad

Cooker,
My system was professionally installed by a “Certified” Viper/DEI dealer. Certified, what a joke, they probably have the same requirements the Five Star system #ad

The system keep starting the engine before the "Wait to Start" engine light would go out. After returning, five times I tried a different dealer. Brought it back to this different dealer twice and they could not fixed it either. I even contacted DEI and they were absolutely no help #ad

I recently had the cliford G4 bullet installed with the autostart. It works great, even waits for the wait to start light to go off, also can double as a turbo timer.
If you have any questions e mail me.

BigDaddy,
Sorry to hear about your misfortune with your Viper. I haven't installed a Viper, but I have installed many other DEI products and have nothing but good luck with them.

I have been very happy with my Code so far, and if I had to do it over again, I would by the same unit.

BTW Alpine make very nice alarms, but the ones I've worked with in the past have been very spendy, and I don't know if they make a alarm/remote start in one unit.

Thanks for all of your input guys. I'm not sure what combo I'll go with. Does Consumer Reports have a shakedown on different systems?

I also have the Avantguard system w/remote start. I have mixed emotions about it.

1st. the 20 second delay before starting is annoying. I turn it off in summer. (gasoline engine mode).
Secondly, my cell phone ringing caused the motion sensor to freak out... so I set it to the lowest setting. Sometimes the alarm sounds for no appearant reason. .
In that regard, its been like any other alarm I've had.

Did I read correctly that the G4 monitors the "wait" light?

VeeTenJeff On saturday you are cummin' down to Pruven again I have the cLIFFORD g4 cONCEPT 600 SERIES AND intellistart with fuel cut. feel free to check it out if you will be down. the nice part is with my laptop I can set a GIGAZILLION parameters like having it automaticly start when the temp inside the cab gets to a user set level (-10*F for me) or run system tests, have it respond to do certain things with one, or a combo of any of the four buttons performing seperate functions (I. E if you are at a fireworks show and want it armed with thw fuel kill but no shock sensor you can do so)<hr>
