I'm pretty new to Anchorage and this is our first winter up here.

We come from Wyoming.

I've been complaining to the Dodge dealer that my turck has no

power(and it doesn't!). :-{}

They checked it out, put a new injection pump on it

and another lift pump and went over the engine.

They said everything is great now.

I still can't accellerate with my 20ft flat bed trailer on

the truck pulling my sleds! :{

What gives!

Dealer said it's the fuel. It's straight kerosene and that doesn't

have as many btu's as number 2.

Anyone else notice this?

That would be correct. Plus the ULSD laws have cost approximately another 1% power loss. I've also read that sometime around June 07 our off road fuel(for my bobcat of course) :-laf will also be ULSD. Did you notice a huge decrease in your fuel mileage also? Gotta love it huh?

Ya I just love it. 1% power loss I don't think I'd notice but this is bad.

My flat bed is only 1700 pounds and I had about 2+ feet of snow on it.

I was doing 55mph in 6th and put it to the floor and it wouldn't go!

Now when I did get it up to 2000 rpms it took right off.

So I'm not real sure what to think. All I know is I don't like it.

Got a question for you Brent, what is the ice festival like?

We are thinking of coming up your way to go see it this year.

Pete

Thought I saw that Ak was one of the places exempt from the ULSD for a few years? Brent, I've got a buddy up there driving a dark blue 3G dually with rv stripes on the side, have you seen it around? He's staying out on Badger rd. & working in a big truck shop in town, waiting to go to the slope out of Pipefitters Local 375.

same Problem

I was having the same problem pulling my toy hauler. I put in a set of RV injectors and now the power is much mo bettu. runs quieter too.

Mike

Palmer, ak

Welcome to Alaska and our fuel woes... . Which dealer are you going to?? I had the guys at Anchorage Chrysler actually tell me to put RV275 injectors in my truck and it would run better, I did that and then went a little farther.

Our fuel in AK is now USLD, the exemption we had was pulled by the EPA last year and we have to run the crap everyone else does. I don't really notice much power loss in the winter but then again I don't have a "normal" truck.

On the bright side only 3 months till the summer fuel is back.

Pete, the ice carving competition is really neat to see and very fun for the kids. Bring your winter gear, it tends to get a little cold. You'll want to go at night so that you can see everything with lights. They also have an area with huge slides, tunnels, mazes, little houses, and spinning tops all made of ice for the kids to play on.

LEPage, I have seen your buddy around town. Let him know I'm in the silver 3G with the dents down the side from where baby moose decided to try and jump in the truck with me and the kids. $3800. 00 in damage. :{

I can't think of 1 place in Anchorage that calls pure Kerosene diesel. I usually fill ed up at the Fred Meyers on Muldoon. Get the fuel card and it's 2 or 3 cents off per gal, plus often it's the cheapest fuel in town.

I have filled up in Fairbanks before with what they called #1 Diesel Fuel. Truck didn't like that too much, but I had it running while I was pouring Power Service in the tank, and the idle starting smoothing out. No Joke! :eek:

We filled up several time at Fred Meyers with the discount card this past summer. I believe it was the best priced diesel in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Soldatna.

Holy cow! That must have been cold! LOL!

Thinking of maybe getting some Jammer Injectors (stage 3) for the truck.

Not bad price but that will put me right at the border line of 500hp.

I'm not sure if my truck can do that with out "other" things like a new

bigger turbo etc. So I need to research this some.

Also worry about my EGT's. But... . 500 hp would be fun.

I don't think an Edge EZ and a set of Jammer 3's are going to get you to 500, but they will still over run your clutch and turbo...

Nate - All the fuel sold in Anchorage in the winter is #1 diesel, it has to be or it would jel up. There are only a few stations that actually label it here and that is usually because they have a heated tank of #2 for sale to the big rigs with heated tanks... .
