Learning def usage and how far it will go on available fuel. Goes up hill very good lots of power. And goes downgrade with the x brake nicely. The transmission and brake and tow haul mode seem to work very well together. Sometimes in all this the cruise control might lose its place a bit but not a serious issue. Very nice road trip

Wife and I just got back from a 13,900 mile trip. On the road for 65 days, 2022 Laramie diesel crewcab longbed dually. 4800# Northstar truck camper. No suspension modifications. Drove from Jamestown, NY to Idaho, crossed into Canada, took the Alcan highway, all over Alaska. Came back on the Top of The World Highway, then back down the Cassiar highway. Spent some time on the Oregon coast. Then hustled 10 hour days for 5 days across the country back to Jamestown.

Average 11 MPG
Average 370 mpg DEF
1266 gallons diesel
37.5 gallons DEF
Diesel High - $7.81/gal USD, Dawson City Yukon
Diesel low $4.99/gal USD, Elko, Nevada

Pretty much always drove 5 mph over the speed limit. Side note, the cruise control will only go to 97 mph. Didn't go that fast, but got behind someone on the expressway, and the adaptive cruise locked me to their speed so I could increase the cruise and that's where it maxed out.

Favorite place for me was Cooper Landing, spent some time fishing for Reds. Favorite place for my wife was Talkeetna, she liked the shops & stuff. Probably the coolest thing we did was fly in a bush plane from Kenai to Lake Clark National Park to spend a day with the brown bears.

Only truck issue was a nail in a tire In Fairbanks. It was a slow leak, needed to add air every couple days. Thought I'd try and nurse it home, but the gravel road from Chicken to Dawson City made it a faster leak, so got it patched in Dawson City.

No factory rear air. I took the Airlift airbags and inflation system off the SRW truck I traded in. Figured if I needed it, I could put it on the new truck. But when I load the 4800# truck camper in this truck, the overload springs are just touching the overloads. Doesn't make sense to put on the airbags to lift the bed off the overloads.

Although it drives me a bit crazy because the truck looks like it's sagging in the back. But I put a level on the bedrail and it's perfectly level.

A Truck that sits perfectly level looks like it's rear is saging yes, it need at least half an inch on the plus side to look level.
Funny

Didn't need bags with 4,500# pin on my 11 dRW did add bags but only added 30psi loaded just to absorb the awful roads.

Okay starting return journey home today. Will post three best places to get def and diesel stops I liked because some I did not on the Al Can Hwy for everybody.s future use. More later

View attachment 135144 Almost ran out of fuel today. A smart man retraces is his steps going back the way he come. But I missed step one short 50 mile stop I just put 26.5 gallons of diesel in a 28 gallon tank. I was 20 miles out in the middle nowhere to the next town. The very bottom of the tank goes really fast. Never go there It sucks Anyway I pulled into a commercial fuel pumping station. Our credit cards would not work. They take a thing called card lock. So it was 5 miles to town. Risk going on or camp by the pump for the night. I was going to camp by the pump drink beer and sleep until am. No trucks were rolling in very dead. . My sweetheart 6found a worker wondering around . It was almost dark he filled us up. Gave him a Canadian 20. $ for beer adventures on the Alaska Hwy. I always run the top half 15 gallons. But we drove around to much in Dawson. Etc. my fault.

11 k when I get home maybe Tuesday. Went 3500 miles in two weeks. No night travel some rain mostly sunny fall weather about 250 miles a day so like coast to coast on two lane roads no interstates or freeway in 2 weeks.

Truck runs and drives great. Power train is awesome. But there are a couple minor flaws Fuel mileage is not great. You pay for the power especially at these fuel drives . The fuel tank is very hard to get completely full . The flapper thing is a royal pain especially with a big nozzle pump handle. The 28 gallon tank is maybe just not enough in very remote areas upper bc and Yukon. You cant count on the fuel stations having fuel three on this trip where out or your card does not work or not open etc. def at the pump is available in Anchorage and Whitehorse and ft St. John’s. Bring one box of def and boxed def is widely available
