I don't know what the heck it is but I called probably 10 shops

today including the Dodge dealers up in Anchorage,AK

and no one will install my after market lift pump.

It's a Glacier Diesel products pump. It mounts on the

frame rail. It's not rocket science. It's really simple!

Even the "performace" shops won't do it.

Actually they won't even talk to you about doing it.

They won't look at the pump, or the installation instructions.

Just NO. period end of conversation.

One shop told me that if I have the intank

fuel pump I don't need anything else.

Well I'm running 6 lbs or less of fuel pressure.

Guess what Mr Wizard, I need the pump!

Sure hope I never need any real work done up here.

I'll have to fly my son up to work on my truck.

I just had to gripe. I'm pretty PO'd right now.

Way to go Alaska shops!

Moore and Son,

South side Dodge,

Performance Diesel

5 Star Automotive

TOTAL TRUCK is a frekin JOKE! DON'T EVER take your truck there.

6. 5 hours to install my Juice with Attitude and it was installed wrong

and the job was never finished! Quality work boys. Quality... ...

They didn't even know how to bleed the air out of my fuel system!! ROTFL!!!

(ya sure you did alot of Juice with attitude installs. I don't think so)

Just had an idea! I wonder if the college has an automotive

class... ... Maybe they would do it!

I'd do it but I have another procedure done on my

back Monday so I'll be down for a little while.

Any Alaska BOMBers out there that want to make a little extra green???

PM me.

Oh, there is a Power Stroke shop up here but I can't go there

because I'd be to embarrased to come back to the TDR! LOL!!!

I'd be banished. ;-)

I installed the Banks six gun on my truck myself, in about 1. 5 hours, and I did it right, I helped my brother install the Juice with attitiude on his Chevy, in about an hour it was done. I think the only way it should take 6. 5 hours, is if you are doing it blindfolded with one hand or really drunk. Drive your truck down to Socal & I'll pop that baby in for the price of beer and lunch.

Ya. I'm 100% serious about them.

I had to tell them how to blead the air

and they swore up and down they'd done a bunch of JWA

installs. I don't know. Maybe I'm stupid but I just don't

think they did.

Oh and then to make it up to me. They offered me an exhaust

at an "Excellent" price. I figued COOL! talk to me! hehehe

Just short of $700. I was figuring $400 maybe $500

since I got screwed so bad. But Noooooooooo.

I went on line and I could order it and ship it to AK

and give a shop $80 and hour for two hours

and SAVE money off they're "Excellent" deal. ROTFL!!!!

Then they said the reason the wires were cut and spliced

were because the instructions were totally wrong and

that EDGE told them to do it. I just don't think so guys.

Sorry. They were TOTALLY clueless.

I use to work on Minuteman III and Peacekeeper missiles for 11 year.

I'm VERY mechanically inclined.

I've worked on truck, trailers and some heavy equipment.

I"m not totally stupid. . LOL!

I just can't physically do it anymore. My back is pretty screwed up

or I'd gladly do it myself. And probably will end up doing it myself anyway.

It will just take me a week.

Hmm, I don't know the situation, but something tells my your not telling the whole story with all those shops.

Ok, Moore and son said no. They don't do that work.

5 Star, same thing, they don't do that kind of work.

Performance diesel told me I don't need it

Dodge dealer said they're "uncomforatlble" doing that kind of work.

Total truck. that is exactly what happend.

I am telling you the 100% truth. Why would I lie?

Give me one good reason.

I didn't know I had to record the conversations.

I don't have phone #s for these guys, but if you can't find them in the phonebook, let me know.

Northern 4x4, located off Boniface.

Underground Performance, I believe off Post Road, but I don't remember for sure

Both these places are fairly new, but they guys that run them have been working on trucks for a long time. I know they both will do diesel performance work.

If that doesn't work out, I have a friend that runs a shop mainly setting up gears on axles, but he would probably work on your truck. Let me know.

Nate

Someone mentioned Underground and Northern but by that time

I'd given up. I was calling off an on all day by that point.

I will check them out tomorrow for sure. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hay im working on getting a job and moveing back up there agin. If it all works out i will help u set up your pump. Hope to know something about the job with in 2 weeks. I have done all the work on my truck my self and helped my frends do theres also. Is the pump that u have like the FASS set up?

Ya. I just can't physically do it anymore. My back is pretty screwed up

or I'd gladly do it myself. And probably will end up doing it myself anyway.

It will just take me a week.

Just wanted to extend some empathy to you, Bud. Getting anything done with serious back problems is a royal PITA. Been there, am there. Dont give up. GregH

Performance Diesel said you didn't need it because they didn't sell it to you...

return the Glacier setup, call Performance, and tell them you want an aftermarket fuel supply setup, and I bet they'll GLADLY sell you one and install it

I can kind of see they're point. They make money selling parts.

Parts pay the bills. But I can get it cheaper then they can.

I don't like throwing money away. But then I have this problem

where I can't get it install.

I guess I may not do it if I were them. Liability.

that too, but you'd think they would just intall it, maybe ding you an extra hour or so?

I didn't think about the liability deal... probably best to buy from the installing shop

Try this:

Take three eggs, some diced ham and shreded cheese into a restaurant of your choice, and ask them to make you an omlete with your ingrediants. NOT going to happen. Sure you can buy eggs, cheese and ham cheaper than they will charge you. So what??

Shops are in business to make money, it's not a hobby. Your truck is your hobby, not the shop's. Think about it.

Check out the suggested newer performance shops, and offer to pay a 'little' extra since you didn't buy the parts from them. You will probably get the pump installed with this approach.

The other problem is: if or when the pump goes bad, you will have no labor warrantee, you will end up paying full price again. Where is the savings then??

Find a shop that prices items and labor fairly and use their services if you can't do your own work.
