I'm looking to purchase some Alcoa 16x7 rims (Classics). Main reason is to reduce weight. With the camper loaded and on the truck (wife and I also) I'm about 300 lbs overweight. Looks like I can save about 15 lbs per wheel. Thats 75 lbs with the spare. Problem is when I look at Alcoa's fitment guide for my truck it says in parentheses "Remove applications with V10 or Diesel engine". I don't understand this. The wheels are rated at 3415 lbs. This is 373 more lbs than my tires are rated. Appears to be plenty stout. Any ideas what this could mean? I've heard of others having trouble with other brands cracking. Anyone heard of an Alcoa with similar problems???

Thanks for any Info

Dennis

I had problems with the original Alcoa LTX wheels cracking. Alcoa turned it into a recall, and replaced all 4 no charge. I haven't heard of any problems with the Classic's.

I'll give Southwest wheel a call and see what they say. Truck handles the weight fine. My concern is getting as close to legal as possible. Redoing the brakes doesn't make it a one ton so that wouldn't help unless there was a way to get it re-certified.
