If you have the optional factory flip out towing mirrors be very careful when adjusting them. The interior ball joint that allows the mirror to change position freezes up with time and the extra pressure it takes to make adjustments torques the mirror until it cracks. Don't ask me how I know!! I now adjust the undamaged mirror using both hands equally centered either on the top or side and it still creaks and groans before moving. Won't be long before it also cracks. P. O. S. design!!!

alert:stock mirrors

Thanks for the heads-up. I have these mirrors on my truck. I originally forgot to check them on the order form, so had to order them from the parts desk at my dealer. When I picked them up, the parts guy gave me a heads-up about them. They came in a kit for about $240 if I remember right. He told me if I should ever break one, don't order a single replacement. They are $372 EACH and don't include mounting hardware! Order the installation kit instead and get both plus hardware. Go figure that pricing strategy!

It happend to mine, before I converted them to power/heated flip-up mirrors. Spray behind the mirror with WD-40 or eqivelent, and work the mirror back/forth and side/side, and give it a shot of WD on occasion. When mine broke, I went to the dealer to order a new one, and as luck would have it, they warrented it.

mirrors

I had the dealer replace the stock flip up mirror after part of it fell out while going down the freeway. Now after about 6 months the replacement mirror is loose and wont stay in adjustment ??

oh well

Did the same thing on the second mirror I fixed Bob. :(

Any class shop can make a new mirror for you. It's just a flat peice of mirror. I think it only cost me $15. 00 and looked like a factory mirror.
