If it has an overload and an auto reset circuit breaker, then after tripping, the breaker will cool and reset starting the cycle over till the fault is removed.

Did you try more than one accessory plugged into the outlets? Could it be an issue with what you are plugging in? Just a thought

I think I've noticed the lights slightly dimming and goin back to normal more than once...

If you are seeing that dimming of the lights and dropping of the volt meter, it is likely just the grid heater cycling during warm up. That is perfectly normal.

What I was referring to was brief moments when the interior lights or dash lights would go out intermittently or randomly in conjunction with your power outlets. As crazy as this sounds, broken wires in the B pillar leading to the back door rubbing together can short those circuits together and cause a intermittent failure. I had that exact issue with my '07.

These trucks are plagued with weird electrical problems that are often unrelated to the symptoms you are actually having. Many times it is the TIPM or PDC (depending on your truck year) itself causing these random issues. Don't jump in to changing it out yet since there are so many other possibilities for problem sources. However, keep it in the back of your mind if you start seeing multiple unexplained failures.

Keep us updated with other symptoms and hopefully we can help you track this down.

thanks I appreciate the help

I see no one has asked how old are your batteries on this truck! Why? On my truck I started to have all sorts of weird issues with the electrical system with one bad battery. After four years the passenger side battery was going bad and this was causing me issues with the overhead display and lights. I replaced both batteries and everything returned to normal. I would also check all of your battery connections to insure that they are clean and tight including the grounds cables to your engine with no worn spots on any battery cables. Just another suggestion to look at.

Also please fill out your signature line with the year of your truck and what's on the truck.
