Helicopter flew into a building. The windows are broken but the cockpit never made it inside the building.

I stand corrected: It was a small plane, The radio said heli and the TV says small plane.

“The flying?” Lidle told The Philadelphia Inquirer this summer. “I’m not worried about it. I’m safe up there. I feel very comfortable with my abilities flying an airplane. ”

Oops. Looks like he shoulda pulled the 'chute.

He also had a ~26-year-old flight instructor along for the flight.

The Cirrus CAPS (Cirrus Airframe Parachute System) would surely be at the forefront of my mind after the manure hit the fan... why wasn't this feature deployed?

So far, there isn't any indication that there was in fact a mechanical problem. The original report of a mayday call has yet to be verified. And even if there was a fuel starvation problem (like the original reports suggested), that is still no reason to loose control of the plane and centerpunch a building. This could just be a case of a couple of guys flying into a situation that was over their head. And if they thought that they were still in control, they wouldn't have gone for the 'chute.
