Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Allen Screw Or Hex Head To Adjust Line Pressure Up?

I went to increase my auto transmission line pressure expecting to find a allen head bolt in a 3/16th's to adjust the pressure. What I found was a hex head bolt instead. I have the manual on the way, but by the time it arrives it will be a couple of weeks before I could get to it. Which is it, or could it be either? Thanks:confused: ;)
 
Thanks Cooker, but I had that very picture when attempting to do the adjust. I suppose I could back out the hex head and see if an allen is behind it, but I somehow doubt that would be the case. I'm now wondering if anyone else has seen this before, because all the posts and history search's I've tried indicate an allen head is used for the adjustment. If anyone else is interested to see this for themselves, I would be willing to take a digital photo and try to post it.

I would like to see what you are seeing. I have seen only an allen to adjust pressure. Chryslers have been that way since at least '62.

I haven't tried posting a photo before, so hope it works out. I'm very curious at this point about what I have that others don't. I bought the truck new, and have not had any transmission work done other than normal maintenance. Please let me know what you think.

All you need to do is select "attach" at the bottom of the reply screen, and then select the file. It should work.

no-strokin sent me the picture he has taken. He was looking in the wrong spot to find the adjustment. I think he is on the right track now.

It appears the DTT link is not workng now. Did they remove it from the site? If so can someone e-mail instructions and maybe a pic for the stock vb adjustments. Which port do I use and will a greasegun hose setup work like for fuel pressure?

I have Bill K's picture also, and the problem is, It's upside down. The screws are on the driver's side of the truck, one is above the edge of the transmission pan. The other is about even with it. The lowest one is on the right, against a flat metal plate and you need to turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE to increase line pressure. One turn = 3 psi. The other screw is a couple of inches to the left, and an inch or so higher. It requires the short end of the allen screw be cut or ground down to about 1/4" in length so you can use it above the bottom lip of the trans casting. Turn this screw CLOCKWISE for later shifts at light throttle, one turn = 75 RPM.
 
Turns?

My 98 shifts into 2nd at 5 mph and into 3rd at 10 mph or less. How many turns should I start with? Also is there any chance I need to adjust the cables? My 95 seemed to shift better after the throttle cable was replaced.

Also which port is used and any special type of hose needed? or will grease gun hose work? 0-100 psi gauge ok?

You want a hose long enough so you can see it while driving.



100PSI is not enough. You will need a 160PSI (140 will probably due) gauge, especailly after you geet a modified valve body.

hjallen; OOPS, I zigged when I should have zagged. I would suggest calling Bill k. at DTT ( www.dieseltrans.com ). Good advice and a straight shooter. Bill will work with you to determine what is needed and not what he wants to sell you. Good Luck
