I saw where Suncoast is offering the Allision 6spd transmission for the Dodge 5. 9, anyone have any insight into this? Is it worth the money? I would love a 6 speed auto in my '06. Is anyone offering a conversion for the 68RE on the 5. 9s yet, that would be another option I would consider.

Oo.

Thanks for the heads up!!! I am having a guy check on the price now, I may have an ATS for sale!!

I would appreciate if you post on what you find out. I assume you will need a seperate control module for the transmission to make it work. I would like to know what the cost of the complete conversion is. Thanks!

The Allison would be neat! How are they holding up to bombs and towing?

OEM wise they usually go into limp mode on a Dmax within about 100hp over stock. I would have to guess with it coming from Suncoast it would be built to the hilt, and man that thing has some big pieces. When built it can hold power!

Would it be pretty difficult to get one to work properly in a 3rd Gen? It just seems like the ECM would be really confused even if the transmission had it's own control unit.

Maybe it will work for the manual guys. I interested.

Didn't some of the newer Ford F650 come with a 5. 9 Cummins and an Allison Trans????

Yup, they sure do, the 5. 9 in the Ford are different then the 5. 9 in the Dodges. ECM, senors and less HP.

Up to '05 the engine and trans had separate control modules, or so I've been told.

I called Suncoast and they quoted me a rough price of 9-10k . Wont be out till end of March. I didnt get much more out of him. I really wanna know what kind of HP it will be able to handle and being a 6 speed what is the final drive gonna be? Am I gonna be in OD running 2k @ 65-70mph or will it get me down to 1200 rpm?

Hopefully that comes with a full billet trans and install labor, then I can see the price

True... . As I recall a Goerend transmission only runs about 2k-4k depending on what you get.
