Come On Guys, Help, Common Rail Conversion

I have done my conversion with only one problem right now.

The conversion is an Allison 2000 5 sp in a 1999 Dodge Cummins that had an auto.

When I hook up my neutral safety switch, the trans will not move in any gear.

With out the switch the truck will not start ( seems to need the hook up).

My thought is a ground problem.

I did get the transmission to jump a couple times going in reverse for a split sec. ( while adjusting the neutral safety switch) but no forward motion. My thought is that it had a ground for an instant.

I was wandering if anyone would know how I should go about fixing the shift problem.

I'm thinking a jump wire or limit switch for the neutral switch. And then hook up the ground for the allison by passing the allison neutral switch.

I will give out my findings on the complete conversion as all the problems are solved. I do have great expectations!!

Thanks for any help,

Todd

allison problem

What computer did you use? an allison or aftermarket? I used the allison computer and an allison wireing diagram for the 1000,2000,2400 trans. ( I put an allison 2400 5speed behind my detroit 8. 2 fuel pincher V8 turbo with all mechanical injection) The neutral switch on the trans just jumps(makes contact) between pin#7e and7g for the start circuit. neither wire goes to ground. pin#7e is the start wire from the ign switch, pin7g wire goes to the starter solenoid or starter relay. If the dodge trans used only one wire to the neutral switch on the trans, that wire gets grounded when the trans is in park or neutral. if thats the case ground the wire from pin7g and hook the dodge starter wire to the wire on pin 7e, the engine should start. If you`ve got enuf oil in the trans, and unhook the computer, the trans will go into the fail safe mode, and it will move. It will have ONLY 3rd gear and reverse. I GOT GOOD AT TESTING IT THAT WAY!! The only sensor you need to put on your engine is a throttle position sensor. If your engine has a tps, to run the injection computer, you`ll need another one to run the trans computer. Allison makes a really good cable operated one that`s WAY BETTER than the one tcs or jet sells. Ask me how I know!! You will know you`ve got the neutral/park switch right when the wires from pins 7e and 7g show continuity only in park and neutral. The trans WILL NOT MOVE OR SHIFT with the computer hooked up and ANY NECESSARY wires are not hooked up or are improperly grounded. ASK ME HOW I KNOW!!!! Let me know if this helps.
