Can a Allison Transmission out of a duramax be made to work behind a 24v cummins? Im trying to remember who it was but I thought that there are some TDR members who have done this conversion. My nv4500 is going bad so im just see what my options are, im not going to put another nv4500 back in

I tow alot never using 5th and this is my 3rd nv4500 and im just wanting something stronger thinking the allison would be the trick or might look at trying a to get a g-56 out of a 3rd gen to work.

If/when I lose my clutch I'm seriously thinking about doing a swap to the Allison.

I think that there is actully a Allison auto thats better suited for putting in these but I can't remember what it is... .

Just more $$$$$ right :D

The first nv4500 was in my 98 lost fith gear, but not by the nut backing off it was the other fith gear below the nut. 2nd was in my 99 would not go into first. 3rd one has 30k on it but is starting to shift hard. I had a shop do the rebuild but I put the trans in.

KKunz -

I've talked to these guys a couple times - http://www.standardtransmission.com/dodge.html - when/if my NV4500 goes, I'll be working with them. An allison in a Dodge would be pretty cool, but I expect it wouldn't be cheap to do. I only mention Standard Trans casue I think they could help you fix it and forget it (hopefully).

I lived in Laramie for almost 10 years, now I'm on the east coast while my wife finishes some training. We have about 1. 5 more years before coming back home. We sure miss it.
