Just yesterday, I come to a stop light and my PU has developed a low grade moan somewhere between the transmission and engine.

It repeats it self about every 2/3 seconds and sounds like a Monk meditating.

In gear, out of gear. Clutch in, clutch out. Nothing changes.

Only way to kill the noise is to rev the motor a little.

Any suggestions?

Turn the stereo up louder? :-laf

Power steering pump maybe. Usually goes away when the engine temp is up to normal, sometimes not. Is it full? You might want to change the oil.

Mine had about the same sound. it turned out to be

my fan clutch. When I would take off there would be a steady

mone, I would lift of the go pedal it would go away. Truck was over heating,

I changed the fan clutch sound is gone.

It only groans when I'm stopped at idle.

It's not coming from the engine department. I can hear it below the floor, inside the cab. Sounds like it's between the engine and transmission.

Clutch, throw bearing etc only has 50K but that dosen't rule it out.

I'm hoping it's not a trans issue but then again, my NV5600 just turned 180K.

Possibly a worn left engine mount, when you rev it up the torque of the motor lifts the left side and stops the "grounding out". Is there any vibration that goes with it?
