I went down to the stealer to order the truck. However when I went to the fisher plow dealer they told me that I coulldn't put any plow on the 3500 HO 6spd. The stealer was trying to get ahold of some Dodge rep to confirm this. Unbelieveable, this is so frustrating that I wouldn't be able to buy the truck because I can't put a plow on it. My buddy didn't buy the dodge because he needed a full sized back seat for the three kids. Dodge has the best motor hands down but I think the rest of the truck is lacking to my dismay. John

I don't think its because the truck can't handle it. A dealer told me it has to do with some government regulation and the curb weight of the truck. I plan on buying a 8 ft western plow for my 3500 QC HO 6spd drw.

ny dad and brother both 6-4" rode in my back seat 4hrs! how big are your buddies kids?oh they must all be joined at the head. hehehe just kiding:)

i have seen this same truck with a plow on it. . sounds like you are getting bad info. DC know that many of these trucks are used in a plowing fashion.

I am still waiting to hear from dodges guru. I don't want to have any problems with the warranty. the truck that I was going to order was a 3500 HO 6 spd regular cab. I would have thought that that would handle a plow better than a quad cab??? I also wanted to put a nine foot plow, but according to fisher I can't put any plow on it. When I was researching it on the internet I could not select the plow prep option with this truck. so I wait for answers from someone who knows more than me.

I think the restriction is just on the DRW. I know Bolles here in Union sells CTD's with Curtis plows on them. Call Kenny at Bolles 860 684-8888.

That doesn't make any sence to me. you would think that having the drw would be better for plows? I wanted the drw for carrying the sand spreader, plus building post and beam barns I carry a lot of lumber at times not to mention firewood. to say the least I have dreamed for the day I could order my new dodge and I find it won't ill my needs-a huge let down.

That's odd... My wife and I took my dad 6' and his brother 6'2" out cruising around picking up some supplies for some tree trimming. They both said they had plenty of leg room and the seat was plenty confortable. I like the Dodge crew oops I mean Dodge Quad Cab (tm) because it is a little bit shorter than Ford's crew cab. How long does a truck have to be?:)

Besides, judging by the forums, (a small sector of truck owners that represents the bigger picture) I would go for a GM D/A before a 6. 0 PSD Ford without hesitation. Since the Dodge suits our needs perfectly and reliably, I don't have to worry about making such a decision. :D

John,

When I ordered my truck at the beginning of October, the salesman told me that I "ordered everything but the plow package and you can't get the plow package with the DRW".

plow on 3500 drw...

for starters, putting a 8 ft plow on your dually just wont cut it, especially when 8. 5 ft exactly matches the width of your truck. i suggest if you are going straight, go 9 foot pro plow as it will cover your rear duals when plowing around turns etc.

with regards to the weight, you neednt worry, your dually can handle it no problem. if you are unsure, any reputable spring shop can upgrade the front coils for a nominal fee or see www.timbren.com for a set of load helpers (i use these)

the plow du jour up here in toronto seems to be the fisher ez-v or western mvp ( both v plows). there are even a couple of 2003 dodge duallys with the fisher 9. 5 ft ez-v.

side note: i saw a 03 chev dually with ez-ve being put on, and when it was raised, the thing was practically a low rider. on my truck, when i lift the plow, the front end drops maybe an inch at most, and rides like a cadillac.

just my $. 02

any questions, u know where to reach me... .

always willing to help.

plow.

You can get the Snow Plow Prep in the DRW 3500 Reg Cab 4x4 Cummins with the Automatic transmission only. You cannot get it with either standard transmission. I would guess there is a clearance problem. I got this information from my Dodge dealer a few minutes ago.

I am so disappointed with this. I definitely do not want an auto with all the trouble I had with the 94 I have now. I don't know what I am going to do at this point.

I know you must be frustrated. I really don't know why they don't offer the plowprep on all 4X4's but I guess that can't be changed. I think you should reconsider the 48RE automatic. I am sure it is alot more capable than your 47RH. Also you get a 7/70 warranty on the drivetrain.

If you must get a 6 shooter try talking to your dealer as I have heard some will "ignore" plow equipment when the truck is in for service. Also, some dealers may even give you a special dealer warranty if they really want to sell a truck. In addition, I belive they can only deny warranty work to damage done by the plow directly, such as ball joints/tie rod end's. So If you needed a new fuel tank then you should be O. K.

Lastly, I don't think you would be better off with a IFS Chevy/GMC even if it has a plow prep and I hear the new 6. 0 powstroke has been renamed the powerpuke considering all of the oil leaks that are cropping up with them. Oh, lets not forget injector failures either.

Good Luck.

All the dealers in my area offer plows for trucks with QC HO 6spd drw . My dealer just ask if i wanted a plow on my truck. Think about all the light duty trucks and SUV's that have plows on them. You are saying you can plow with a jeep but not with a 3500 HD ram.

pstillo

No doubt that you can plow with the HO 6speed DRW. You cannot, however, order the Snow Plow Prep Package. I have no idea why because you can get it with the 2500. Makes no sense.
