Alot of work for "Box" manufacturers

Went to the SEMA show in Vegas, saw a few Dodges on display with the 6. 7L

My opinion is the box people are going to have their work cut out for them due to the dual map sensors EGR ect. Glad I have a 5. 9 L . I wonder if the days of the hot rod diesel are gone , just like what happened in the 70's. I guess time will tell.

I doubt its all over. They're hot roddin' the VW Touareg V10 TDIs and they have a mess of stuff on them. I wouldn't be too worried about it yet.

It's just a new challenge for them. Someone had to come up with the systems on a stock truck, and I bet you someone else had a workaround for those systems in the design stage before the trucks even hit the road.

Kind of like the dictionary and the phonebook; obsolete before printing...

There is absolutely NO WAY that the days of the diesel performance stuff for the new diesels are over. I also think that it'll just take a bit longer than usual for the manufacturers to come up with a chip, box, or programmer. According to a buddy of mine that talked to the guys at BullyDog during the SEMA show, they already have after-DPF exhausts for the 6. 7L Cummins, the LMM Duramax, and the 6. 4L Powerstroke.

When I talked to Bullydog at SEMA, They would not comment on the programing because they just recieved the 6. 7. They did say along with other Exhaust co. they will have exhausts from the Cat back out shortly. Magnaflow was not worried about the exhaust part but the guy I talked to. He said he wouldn't want to be the programmer on the new trucks.

Wade, do you have any idea how many holes the new ones have? I would also like to get a closer look at one to see how many changes they have made. Also, do you know if the spray pattern is close to what we have? I have heard it may be possible to retro these into ours. Just wondering.....

How are they planning on working with the correction codes? And how will the dyi guy at home deal with it?

off hand i dont know all the details as i have not personally seen them yet, so i cant say, but i will know soon

Wow, I don't want to be the rain cloud, but the warranty implications for the chippers. The 5. 9 is 10K to replace, I can't even imagine what the new cost will be, and the computers might have a memory chip just for bomber's now because Dodge knows it's inevitable.

This may sound stupid but wonder if the fuel we use now(500 ppm i think, instead of ULSD) will have an effect on them if they can be?
