I have an Alpine head unit with an Alpine XM tuner box under my console. On cold mornings, the radio works for about 1 1/2 hours and then the head unit screen flashes "Loading" and will flash loading for 30 minutes straight. Turning off then on the radio for about 30 seconds will get me about 3 minutes of play time on XM, and then it flashes loading again. I have no trouble most of the year, even in August when it's 100°F plus and 72° dew point (it's not the humidity that kills you, but the dew point!) I've called XM and Alpine and they just scratch their heads. It seems to be related to cold mornings. (running the heater on full and heating up the truck 'till I can't stand it anymore, doesn't seem to help)

It sounds like a reception problem I know some antennas for XM can short out and they are a real bear to rewire I would try getting a new antenna when my XM is in a low reception area I have seen it flash loading

thanks, but that was the first thing I tried. (new antenna) It seems that I have something on one of the boards that is sensitive to cold weather. I'm used to the other way around (not rejecting enough heat) Just trying to determine if it was a bad habit with the add-on Alpine XM boxes.

I did not care for much of the XM programming and I could probably be talked into selling you my Alpine XM tuner equipment if you think that will help.

XM is on my ***** list! They will get your service started easy enough but when we went to turn it off it took us SEVERAL HOURS to do so. Very poor customer service.

Shoot me a PM if you are interested in the equipment.

Looks like your PM box is full and won't except my messages. I'm interested in you Alpine XM tuner, if it's the model I need.

Mine does it to

I run my XM thru my DieselPuter and have the same issue. I do have my antenna in my dash vs. on the roof. I also have a Alpine deck... ... ..... for what its worth

I have moved my antenna to the roof, without any improvement. Funny thing is, it works 9 months out of the year just fine on the dash.

Found problem in XM radio

Found my problem, the power wire for the Alpine XM tuner was not hooked up to the battery as Alpine suggested. I had tied it in with the positive connection for the head unit. works fine now tied in to uninterupted power source.

Interesting note, my subscription for XM ran out this past December. They re-uped me for another 3 years at $8. 99/month. Plus they credited me money from the last time I signed a three year contract. They said I had paid too much! ($10. 99 a month) They must be hurting for customers.

They are hurting for customers in fact both sat. radio companies are. That and the fact that XMs billing dept is absolutly horrible. I sent in a $28 dollar payment that they recieved and cashed and they dont have a record that I even sent it in.
