Anyone pulling with a DTT trany?

Maybe that's why the fuel milage ain't so good. The fuel's going into the crankcase. :{

VDOT just bought a bunch of these, and a friend I work with was issued one of them. He says they go pretty well, but they're getting about 10 mpg on average. That stinks. They're running empty and unloaded; yeah some idle time, but I have that too.

GM Guys

Not to make light of anyone having problems with their ride, as it can happen to any of us but..... his previous truck was "a 6. 5 turdo diesel that set the record for number of injector pumps to go out, but other than that I loved that truck" :confused: It went through 8 injector pumps but other than that you loved it?! I'd have pushed it off a cliff and burned it! So what does he do after this wonderful experience with GM diesels? He goes and buys another one :rolleyes: GM guys... sheez... .

:--) Prospective Duramax purchaser: " You want me to pay to be your guinea pig?"

GM says: "Yup and we want a premium dollar from you. "

PDp says: "Well only if I have to pay a premium dollar... where do I sign?"

As Forest Gump's mom used to say: "Stupid is as stupid does?"

I had talk with a Dmax owner and he claimed that he was getting 28-30mpg:--) this was empty of course and highway driving 65-70mph. I realized I was listening to one of those baffle them with bullsh%% guys, it was either that or he didn't know jack about math:D

He could be tellin the truth, my friend gets 42MPG running to the dealer getting parts for his DuraTrash,,, of course he drives the volkswagen to get those parts cause the DuraTrash wouldn't Run!:D

Sounds like the "re-designed heads" thing for 2004 is what we were all speculating about aluminum heads on a diesel.

Needles to say if the Cummins came in the ford or chevy, and not the Dodge, I would be over there on the other site. Chris

I wonder about Chevy drivers sometimes...

Somebody posted on that thread

"this same problem happened to me,except it filled my crankcase completly up and made a bad mess under the vent hole , they first had asked if i had a power box , then after a few hours on the phone they deciced to start pressure testing the system to find out a line from the fuel header to the injector was leaking, they did no other work and all is working now except the truck seams to be louder now"

A few hours on the phone to figure out that #2 in the oil needed fixing :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Apparently the dealer drained the oil/fuel mix, pressure tested the system ("they did no other work") and sent this guy on his way. Do ya' think the reason his truck is louder now is because the dealer gave him the "scored bearing sound option" while he wasn't looking?

Geez - Chevy dealers must think all of their customers are idiots (well, they did buy Chevies, afterall). The price of getting educated shouldn't cost so much - at least this guy is out on the web (hopefully) learning about what makes his truck tick (pun intended).

Would you buy a used DuraMax now? ever?
