can anyone tell me the stock alternator amp output on my '95 3500. i am into cb's and i about to put some power to my radio and want to make sure that i dont have a shortage of power to supply the amp. if i do need another alternator, can anyone point me in the right direction of a good aftermaket supplier of 200amp alternators. if i am gonna replace it, i am gonna do it right. thanks :D

Gonehawkn, the DC service manual says 120 Amps. However, to expect it to provide that kind of current over very much time, is not realistic in my opinion. That should be plenty of power to drive any legal or reasonable output anyway.

A kicker should be wired directly to the battery. The stock alt and batt combo will power 500 to 1000 watts easily. Just make sure wire size is correct and the fuse is at the battery. If memory serves a 1000 watt will draw about 100 or so amps. How big are you going?

A bigger than stock alt is $$$$ and the stock alt is pretty big as is.

Remember the amp only draws hi amps on key up. catch ya on the flip side.

Gonehawkin- I run a sweet 16 texas star right now, and have absolutely no problems as long as I turn of stereo and other unneccisary electrical toys. I religously watch my amp guage and it only drops significantly if I talk LONG periods with FULL power. So I wouldnt worry about it at all really. As long as its wired properly you shouldnt need a new alt.
